Falls remain one the leading causes of construction injuries, especially in roofing, making it critical for everyone to be equipped with the knowledge on how to prevent accidents. Today, the team discussed how we can prevent falls, guardrails, safety nets, personal fall arrest systems, and safe ladder use. Safety is a shared responsibility, and meetings like these are vital to keeping our team informed, prepared, and vigilant. IDEAL Ping-Pong Tournament 🏓🎉🍤 Last Friday, Ideal hosted our monthly 'First Friday Lunch' where the team came together to share a low-country boil cooked by our very own CEO, Mike Finney. When we weren't enjoying a delicious meal, team Ideal hosted a ping-pong tournament where colleagues showed off their skills and competed fiercely for the championship title! 🔨🚧 Monthly Safety Meeting Recap: Manual Handling 🚧🔨 This week, our team gathered for our monthly safety meeting, and the focus was on something crucial for all of us on the construction site: Proper Manual Handling💪Understanding and practicing correct lifting methods is essential not only for our productivity but, more importantly, for our health and safety. Always think about the LITE approach: LOAD - The characteristics of the load being handled, including its weight, shape, size, stability, and any potential hazards associated with it INDIVIDUAL - Focuses on the capabilities and limitations of the individual performing the manual handling task. TASK - The manual handling task being performed. Do I need to reach, up, or down? Do I need to twist? How many times do I need to do this? ENVIRONMENT -  Considers the working environment in which the manual handling task takes place. A huge thank you to Matt for leading the meeting. Construction for the Paris Olympics 🚧🏅🌍 Last Friday marked the first day of the 2024 Paris Olympics, the biggest event France has ever organized. Despite hosting over 10,000 athletes, 592 of whom are Americans, France has constructed relatively few sports facilities, unlike the 2021 Tokyo predecessor.
