Improving lives with data and evidence

About us

IDinsight helps leaders combat poverty worldwide by designing, deploying and promoting evidence-generating tools. We tailor the best methodologies to partner needs and constraints to fuse evidence with action. We serve governments, NGOs, foundations and social businesses across Africa and Asia in all major program areas including health, education, agriculture, livelihoods, finance, energy and governance. Our approach rests on four pillars: 1. Rigorous: We develop and use a wide-range of cutting edge data and evidence tools, including experimental evaluations, monitoring systems, data analytics and visualization, process evaluations, machine learning and more. 2. Cost-effective: Every dollar spent is justified by expected impact. If funds could be better used in another way, we say so. 3. Timely: Actionable information is delivered in time for client decision-making deadlines. 4. Demand-driven: We deploy solutions tailored to partner contexts and needs with no competing agendas. Our diverse, growing team of over 200 outstanding colleagues operate in nearly two dozen countries around the world. Learn more at www.IDinsight.org.

#HumansOfIDinsight | "What do you want to be when you grow up?” As one of five kids in southwest Nigeria, my responses to that question varied every time it was posed. Sometimes, it was predictable responses (for a Nigerian home) like a doctor, lawyer, computer engineer, or pilot. Other times, it was to be a slightly unusual scientist, a farmer (at one point), and even a millionaire (as if it were a job in itself). Time brought clarity when I chose to study Applied Computer Technology with a focus on Cybersecurity in my undergraduation, or so I thought. Five years later, I was graduating again with an MBA in Strategic Management while working for an Ed-Tech start-up. During my time working in Ed-tech in Nairobi’s vibrant start-up scene, I took diverse roles in marketing, recruitment, operations, and special projects. This cocktail of experience, coupled with my background in technology, led me to design tech-enabled recruitment experiences leveraging non-traditional measures of academic potential for a pan-African higher education institution on the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius. The sum total of my experiences working in ed-tech and HigherEd crystallized in my mind the tremendous potential of high-quality education as an impact channel for sustainable development on the African continent. The decision to move back to Nairobi to join IDinsight was an ideal choice. Almost 3 years after taking the leap, I have developed more of an appreciation for the role of rigorous data and evidence in achieving and sustaining impactful outcomes. Personally, I'm also proud to be part of an organization that exercises a high level of care for not just its work but also its people. Hence, today, at IDinsight, I stand at the confluence of what I now believe is my passion and purpose - the challenge of helping to define what a cost-effective and fit-for-purpose information security program looks like in low-resourced contexts. One that ensures that the most impactful social/development sector organizations like IDinsight can effectively manage risks and sustain their impact into the future," writes Fola. --- Fola is a Manager on the Research Evaluation and Data (RED) Team Operations at IDinsight, based in Nairobi, Kenya.

This month, we are spotlighting Dilshad S, our Associate in the Dignity Initiative team! 🎉 Dilshad was nominated by Tom Wein, Director of IDinsight's Dignity Initiative. Here's what he said ⬇️ "Dilshad is a shining example of how we hope IDinsighters will showcase their talents to our partners. Dilshad recently did a week-long solo site visit to a potential partner. Their CEO and head of M&E both reported back in awe about his "bear trap mind", his humility and how much it meant to them to be "accompanied and advised by a friend". They said that in an unplanned, spontaneous session, he had guided them through theories of change and enhanced their understanding. That is just one of countless examples of Dilshad approaching his work with an incredible thoughtful drive for impact. We are very lucky to have him in our Dignity team" Thank you, Dilshad, for everything that you do! 🎉 --- Know more about our Dignity Initiative work here: https://lnkd.in/ecHyw27J
