Humanity relies on agriculture to provide nourishment, yet there is an urgent need to reduce the agricultural sector’s environmental footprint. Meeting these two goals is crucial for both people and the planet to thrive. On August 27, join IFPRI and The CGIAR Initiative on Nature-Positive Solutions for a special event to discuss the importance of heeding the wisdom and experiences of the world’s smallholder, Indigenous, and family farmers, who are facing the effects of climate change and environmental degradation firsthand as they endeavor to earn a living and feed their families and communities. 🔍 🎫 Register here: https://bit.ly/Grain- 🤝 Check out our Facebook event page: https://bit.ly/Grain-FB 💼 Check out our LinkedIn event page: https://bit.ly/Grain-LI #IFPRISpecialEvent

National food loss and waste (FLW) management policies and strategies are often not aligned with climate action goals as articulated in the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) commitments and their implementation plans. To address these problems, countries must work to transform their institutions and build supportive regulatory frameworks to reduce agrifood system greenhouse gas emissions and integrate FLW reduction into those efforts. What steps should they take to pursue these complex challenges? This blog by Suresh Babu, Yogendra Karki, Innocent PANGAPANGA-PHIRI, Md Sadat Anowar, and Nandita Srivastava documents a set of issues and opportunities that emerged from national level consultations in #Bangladesh, #Malawi, and #Nepal on FLW management. The consultations took place in April-June 2024 under the Comprehensive Action for Climate Change Initiative (CACCI), the USAID flagship program, through its Asia program led by IFPRI.
