Illegal bookie Mathew Bowyer pleads guilty to federal charges with sentencing set for February 7, 2025. ⚖️ Bowyer, who operated an illegal bookmaking business with over 700 customers in California has pled guilty to three federal charges, including money laundering. He faces up to 18 years in prison. 💼 Bowyer is the fourth individual charged in connection to a Southern California sports betting scandal that involved former Shohei Ohtani interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara. ⚾ Court documents reveal Bowyer had at least two professional baseball players as clients, as federal authorities continue their investigation into the widespread illegal betting operation.
