About us

Ignite is a four-day retreat for incoming freshmen and transfer students who are looking to find Christian community at the University of Texas. With a band and speaker, small group time, and fun camp traditions, the retreat not only provides students with friends and community before arriving to campus, but also gives them the tools they need to seek spiritual growth during their time at UT. Our purpose is to glorify the Lord by serving incoming students and showing them their first glimpse of the body of Christ at the University of Texas. At retreat, the Ministry Fair introduces campers to many churches and Christian organizations in Austin, allowing them to see God’s influence both on campus and in the city.

Last week, our staff had the joy of hosting our 2024 retreat for incoming UT students. It is so evident how God worked through Ignite Texas this year: from our staff members who poured into incoming freshmen, to the speakers that dedicated time to speak at retreat, and our donors who partnered with us financially to allow all campers to make it to camp, He moved through every single person. It truly took an army, and that allows us to confidently say: to God be the glory. From our church and ministry fair, to camp olympics, to the prayer room, and everything in between, God's hand was so evident in every aspect of retreat. We were able to share the Gospel with 190+ incoming UT students and connect them to over 30 local churches and ministries. We are thankful for how this retreat allowed campers to grow closer to God and pursue Christian community in college, and we can’t wait to see what God does with the seeds planted at retreat once the students get on campus! Whether it be through the generosity of finances, time, or resources, it is thanks to all of you that retreat happened. Whether you prayed faithfully or donated financially, we couldn’t have done it without you. Thanks to your support, God fostered a community that will encourage these students to pursue involvement in the local church and unite Christian community on UT’s campus. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. - Ephesians 3:20-21
