As demand for personalized cell therapies grows, centralized manufacturing models face bottlenecks that limit patient access. Innovations are needed to enable point-of-care (POC) manufacturing, bringing the production process closer to patients, reducing costs and turnaround times. At Advanced Therapies Week 2024, we hosted an engaging panel on POC cell therapy innovations, featuring leaders like Boro Dropulić, Anthony Davies, Dorothea Ledergerber, Robert Hughes and Lee Buckler. They discussed the barriers and solutions needed to push POC forward, emphasizing the potential of technological advancements such as the microfluidic chip from SMART, and strategic collaborations, like the one of Galapagos and Blood Centers of America. In this blog, Peter Peumans and Rich Stoner dive deeper into how these innovations are reshaping the landscape of cell therapy - making life-saving treatments globally more accessible.
