The Glendale Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library has received the Merit Award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Indiana in the category for new construction projects costing greater than $5 million. This recognition is part of AIA Indiana’s Design Awards program, where a jury of peers selects projects by leading Indiana-registered architects that exemplify design excellence. The 24,800-square-foot branch, located at 3660 E. 62nd St., opened to the public on March 30, 2024. The facility features drive-up material returns, a community meeting room with a 100-person capacity, and rooftop solar panels that generate 71% of the building's electricity. Designed for LEED Gold Certification, a globally recognized symbol of sustainability, the project was managed by Powers & Sons Construction with krM Architecture serving as the architect. https://lnkd.in/g-TyAKSC

"When kids visit the new Glendale branch of the Indianapolis Public Library, they'll have the chance to play among the stars and bounce off moon rocks with a boy named Harrison. While Harrison might not be there in person, pictures of him wearing a space suit and floating through the planets cover the children’s area of the library."
