About us

Across the US, only 51% of public schools provide basic Computer Science education. This number is even lower in rural areas and among underrepresented communities. As the world becomes increasingly digital, preparing students with STEM skills is crucial to accessing job opportunities and growth in the future. Infosys Foundation USA is a non-profit organization focused on bridging the digital divide in America. It aims to give children, young adults, and workers across the United States the skills they need to become creators, and not just consumers, of technology. Infosys Foundation USA supports computer science education and training, particularly for those in underrepresented communities. This includes grants and domain expertise for non-profit organizations engaged in delivering services, research, and advocacy. Infosys Foundation USA builds on the 20-year community-focused heritage of the Infosys Foundation.

The Foundation had a vibrant ‘mission’ oriented week at #NAFNext2024. Artificial Intelligence is reshaping education, and the biggest question remains: how do we safely and ethically integrate it into our classrooms? Foundation ED Katherine E. Maloney and Malur Narayan, VP Technology, Emerging Tech & Sustainability for Tata Consultancy Services delivered a thought-provoking session on responsible #AI integration and industry readiness – including highlights of TeachAI resources - to a room full of curious NAF educators. We also hosted an innovation studio session, with NAF Curriculum Collaboration Lab educators Amanda Glunz, Carmielle Darden, and Sondra Sanford to showcase resources specifically curated for NAF students and educators on the Infosys Springboard ‘Digital Academy’. As always, we leave inspired to help shape a more equitable and innovative future in education. #OurMission #BeFutureReady

Exciting Day at the 5th Annual Infy App Design Challenge Recognition Event! Last Friday, Infosys Foundation USA hosted the much-anticipated 5th annual ‘Infy App Design Challenge’ Recognition Event at the Infosys One World Trade Center office. We welcomed over 75 enthusiastic students from three NYC high schools who have been diligently working with over 30 Infosys mentors on innovative apps to address pressing social challenges over the past several months. A powerful theme of #collaboration emerged during the day’s celebration as mentors, judges, teachers and students validated the importance of #diverse perspectives and #teamwork in solving real-world problems. The room buzzed with energy as finalist teams presented their creative solutions to address homelessness, hunger, mental health, teen stress and littering to a panel of Infosys judges. The day was made even more special with the presence of distinguished guests, including Jade Grieve from the NYC Dept of Education, CEO of PENCIL Gregg Betheil, and our very own Executive Director, Katherine E. Maloney. Thank you to our dedicated partner PENCIL, Inc., and to all the students, mentors, teachers, and judges Rumela Mitra Gaius Benbow Vivian H. Michelle Roman for making the day so inspiring.   Here's to fostering collaboration and innovation for a better #digital future.   #InfyAppChallenge #Innovation #CSEd Beth Kolman James Mazzullo Mary Jing Shen Inderpreet Sawhney Martha King Lara Salamano Anand Swaminathan

This week, the Foundation was honored to host the 5th annual CT Lt Governor's "Coding for Good" Computing Challenge ‘Recognition Event’ at the Infosys Hartford Innovation Center. We welcomed CT Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Commissioner for the CT State Department of Education Charlene M. Russell-Tucker, partners including Amazon and Comcast NBCUNIVERSAL, students and the winners' families to celebrate this special moment together. As the Professional Development Benefactor, the Foundation was thrilled to see a record-breaking number of submissions this year: 550, a nearly 60% increase from last year. This achievement is a testament to our dedicated partners CodeJoy LLC and ReadyCT, who provided live training sessions for educators and students across 33 Alliance Districts and within communities across the state. Additionally, our newly-launched “ Challenge Champions" initiative ensured program awareness for all CT students through the promotion of passionate educators.    The ‘Recognition Event’ was a celebration of #techinnovation and #learning. Attendees enjoyed drone test flights, state-of-the-art AR/VR tennis at the Infosys ‘Living Lab,’ and an inspirational speech about the importance of inclusivity from Sreenidi Bala, a talented Connecticut high school junior who launched her own non-profit, Code for All Minds, a program providing free computer science and AI resources to neurodiverse students.   As this chapter of the Computing Challenge comes to a close, we wish to thank all the individuals and organizations who have supported this program that equips CT youth with the digital skills they need to succeed in the future. We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the Infosys volunteers who helped us jointly invest in the next generation of digital learners.  Katherine E.
