About us

Since 1996, Infosys Foundation has been trying to make communities and individuals stand on their feet. From helping communities affected by natural disasters, constructing toilets and building libraries for village schools, providing succor to Devadasi women, to donating funds for cancer treatment, scientific research and mid-day meals – if there is a worthy cause in sight, the Foundation is always there to support it. We take great pride in working with all sections of society, selecting projects with infinite care, and working in areas that traditionally overlooked by society at large. With a focus on the most remote regions of India, our initiatives span the areas of education, rural development, healthcare, arts and culture, and destitute care.

Imagine a world where education feels out of reach. This was the reality for many girls in Jaisalmer. Finances held them back, dimming the light of their dreams. At #InfosysFoundation, we believe every girl deserves a chance to shine. Partnering with CITTA, we launched a program at Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School in 2023. For us, the goal was clear. Education shouldn’t just be about access; it must also ignite a passion for learning. Now, classrooms are filled with stories of inspiring women and global wonders. Projectors open windows to new worlds, while our "Khud Ki Khoj" (self-discovery) workshops empower them to discover their potential. The impact is clear: parents see their daughters thriving, limitations replaced by dreams taking root. This isn't just education; it's empowering future leaders, innovators, and changemakers. #InfosysCSR | #education | #womenempowerment

Imagine a life where every drop of water is a battle hard-won. This was the reality for countless women in Andhra Pradesh's Sitharama Raju district, home to over 3,500 villages. The Eastern Ghats, while majestic, also faced maintenance issues posed a barrier to clean drinking water. Women bore the brunt, walking miles to fetch water, often contaminated, jeopardizing their health, and hindering their lives. #InfosysFoundation saw this struggle. Partnering with Visakha Jilla Nava Nirmana Samithi (VJNNS), we embarked on a mission to transform this. The answer? An ingenious solution - the Gravity-Fed Water Supply System (GFWSS). GFWSS is a beacon of hope. No longer reliant on distant, polluted sources, it harnesses the power of innovation. A perennial spring becomes the heart, protected by a "spring box" from human and animal interference. Water is obtained from the spring which flows through a pipeline to a filtration chamber, ensuring every drop is safe to drink. This project, launched in June 2022, shattered initial targets. With our support, not 150, but a staggering 332 GFWSS were built! The impact? Over 1,55,000 lives, directly and indirectly touched. Women, relieved of their backbreaking burden, could pursue education, livelihoods, and better health for their families. The success story doesn't end there. Inspired by the project's impact, we also pledged to build 100 more systems. Our project is also championing awareness and influencing government departments to embrace this life-changing technology. Every drop of clean water is a step towards a brighter future, and we will continue to work hard to empower women, uplift communities, and protect our environment, all through the power of technology and a deep understanding of human needs. #InfosysCSR | #womenempowerment | #sustainability | #water

#InfosysFoundation is at the forefront when it comes to ensuring that the underserved sections of society have access to world-class education. The Foundation, since its genesis, has worked towards making education affordable and accessible to all. However, there are multiple challenges, when it comes to making this ambition a reality. One way this has been made possible, is by the power of our people. Infoscions from across our offices coalesce to supporting people and communities. An example of this is how our Hyderabad CSR group, Mamata Trust, is helping make education more accessible, especially for underprivileged women. Working with Mahila Dakshata Samithi Education Institutions to introduce the ‘Infosys Trust-Mahila Dakshati Education Sponsorship’ project, Mamata Trust has taken up the responsibility to sponsor all academic expenses of students for an entire year. Through this project, 25 Bachelor of Science nursing students will be sponsored for 4 years and 13 more for their final year. Working in tandem with the Foundation, our CSR groups are always determined to provide education for marginalized communities. The Foundation is thankful and proud to partner with our volunteer groups in helping amplifying potential and creating opportunities for people and communities. #InfosysCSR I #education I #nursing I #scholarship

The year 2023, was the year of floods. Several parts of the country grappled with torrential rain. Homes were submerged and local infrastructure was ruined, resulting in thousands of residents being displaced. Countless families faced unimaginable hardships, and were forced into residing in support homes. The residents of Noida, also experienced this dire situation, as nearly 17 villages and 3,100 people were impacted. Our Infoscions, always committed to providing practical support for those struggling in such unprecedented situations, sprang into action. Supported by #InfosysFoundation, Team Saksham, the Noida DC CSR group, worked together with the local administration, to help provide basic amenities and essential support for those affected by the floods. The team visited seven affected areas, to deliver essential relief kits containing dry food and daily necessities, to almost 2,500 families. The aim was not merely to provide basic necessities, but to encourage those who are trying to rebuild their lives. Saksham is proud to stand alongside communities in need, especially during times of natural disasters. The dedication of our volunteers is an example of how the spirit of solidarity and the unwavering spirit of the people affected, can help rebuild society. #InfosysCSR | #FloodRelief | #CommunitySupport | #DisasterRelief

#InfosysFoundation has multiple initiatives in the state of Madhya Pradesh, the heartland of India. Our education, #healthcare, and cultural initiatives have had a long-term impact on the local communities. Aware of the lack of quality healthcare in certain regions of the state, especially for pregnant women and newborns, two initiatives were introduced. The Infosys Foundation Akshita program, a joint venture of the Foundation and The Antara Foundation aims to provide accessible and world-class healthcare to the children, pregnant and lactating women in the state’s Damoh district. This initiative will cater to their nutritional needs and lay the groundwork for long-term societal transformation. It is predicted that our efforts will help 1,12,000 pregnant women and children. Another initiative, the Infosys Foundation Empower programme, in partnership with Sangath, was conceptualized to destigmatize perinatal mental health and create awareness about its interrelation with early childhood development. This program provides support for maternal mental health and early child development interventions, during the most critical time - the first 1,000 days of a child’s and mother’s lives. This initiative will be rolled out in 8 locations in the state. With the need to restore its cultural heritage, the Foundation collaborated with the Archaeological Survey of India and the National Culture Fund to restore the damaged structures of the Bateshwar temples to its former glory. #InfosysCSR | #mentalhealth | #Womenempowerment | #childcare | #maternalcare | #culture | #MadhyaPradesh

#InfosysFoundation has always focused on promoting traditional Indian art forms, aware of the role they play in preserving and enhancing a nation’s culture. However, the artists that perform these ancient art forms must also be nurtured. As the pandemic has taken away more than a crore of creative jobs, the Foundation wanted to provide artists a platform to showcase their talent and reignite public interest in these art forms, post the pandemic. Partnering with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), the Foundation conducted art and cultural festivals across eight cities, where 246 art forms were exhibited. About 47,000 people attended this festival in person, while more than 48,000 culture lovers attended virtually. As infrastructure plays a vital role for artists as well, the Foundation financially aided the renovation the Khincha Auditorium in BVB in Bengaluru, which has a seating capacity of 300 people, ensuring that it will become one of the top performance stages in the world. Similarly, to foster the South Indian art form, Yakshagana, the Foundation established a training and research center, constructed a hall for daily training, a library, a museum, and an auditorium with a seating capacity of 500 at the Yakshagana Kalaranga in Udupi, Karnataka. The provision of infrastructure for the Khincha Auditorium and Yakshagana Kalaranga, the organization of the art and culture festivals is a testament to highlight underrepresented artistes and provide the right platforms to showcase their talents and earn a living through a steady income. #InfosysCSR | #culture | #art | #yakshagana

The infant mortality rate in India was 42.9% in 2011 and significantly reduced to 25.5% in 2021. Being aware of the high infant mortality rate, the Government of India launched the India Newborn Action Plan in 2014, to ensure that stillbirths and neonatal mortality rates are reduced to ‘single digit’ by 2030 and LaQshya, also introduced in the same year, provides quality healthcare for the labor ward and maternity operation theater at government hospitals. Other governmental initiatives like Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Janani Suraksha Yojana, and Mission Indradhanush, were also introduced to cater to rural women and their newborns. Working in alignment with the government, #InfosysFoundation has always introduced initiatives to protect newborns and children, by providing technology driven solutions to improve maternal, neonatal, and child health outcomes, through Project Early Life. In addition, the Foundation built world class infrastructure with a 9300 sq.m. maternity block in the Ramanagara district of Karnataka. #InfosysCSR | #childcare | #maternalcare | #infantcare | #healthcare

#InfosysFoundation understands the importance of educating women and children about their physical #health and well-being. Many of our initiatives and programs are centered around children’s health. One such initiative is the SWADHYAY program, by Infosys Foundation and the eVidyalokaTrust. The main objective is to set up digital classrooms and teach-through-television programs. With the aim of imparting knowledge about healthy lifestyle practices, school students were encouraged to participate in a #yoga session on June 21st, International Day of Yoga. Following this year’s theme of “Yoga for Self and Society”, a total of 649 students diligently participated across 39 schools in Karnataka. The students performed Surya Namaskar, Pranayama exercises, and other yoga asanas, under the guidance of Ms. Anasuya Puranik, a volunteer teacher from the eVidyalokaTrust. The most unique aspect about this yoga session, was that it was conducted virtually, as their teacher was located in the United States. This yoga session was an example of how digital classrooms were used to educate children about their health, for their holistic development, and how their learning is not restricted to their school curriculum. The session was held to help students relax and rejuvenate and motivate them to inculcate healthy practices into their daily life, for their overall development. The Foundation’s goal is to ensure that all children receive high-quality #education through the latest technology, while maintaining optimum health. #InfosysCSR | #yogaday

#InfosysFoundation has worked relentlessly towards making #healthcare affordable and accessible to women and children, especially in rural areas. When the Health Department of Karnataka, reached out to request assistance to reconstruct a government hospital wing, in Ramanagara district of Karnataka (60 kilometers away from Bengaluru), the Foundation took this opportunity to transform the maternity and child wing of the taluka hospital into a one-of-a-kind 100-bed hospital. The hospital block which is over a 9,300 sq.m., comprises of five floors, with state-of-the-art facilities, operation theaters, ICU equipment, and a pediatric ward. As a result of our efforts, there has been a surge in the number of patients visiting the hospital. From August 2023 to February 2024, about 8,616 new patients have visited the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, with 714 patients revisiting. And in the Pediatric Department, nearly 4,044 new patients and 1,981 revisits. The hospital caters to patients from Kanakapura, Arohalli, Ramanagara, and other nearby places bordering Bengaluru and Tamil Nadu. This hospital is a testament of our unwavering to further its mission of fulfilling the healthcare needs of underprivileged mothers and their children and empowering women. #InfosysCSR | #maternalhealth | #childcare | #Karnataka | #WomenEmpowerment | Infosys
