Are you dealing with one of these situations… 👉 A charged conversation with your boss, co-worker or client that's keeping you up at night? 👉 You and your partner have differing viewpoints on major life or financial decisions, which has led to repeated arguments, growing tension, and even nights spent in silence? 👉 Tension, snappy interactions and unresolved emotional material bubbling up to the surface with a parent or sibling? Whatever you're experiencing, it's likely that you and the other person genuinely care for each other and want to find a positive outcome, but the ongoing conflict is straining the very foundation of your relationship and making it impossible to find a path through. Without effective conflict resolution skills (which most of us were never formally taught in school or at work!), even the strongest bonds can fracture. We all encounter hurdles in our core relationships, and sometimes, navigating these conflicts can feel overwhelming. Join Katya Stepanov and Mallory Combemale 🌍 this Thursday to learn a simple, practical set of tools that you can use right away (!) to transform any conflict or difference of perspective from a situation that fractures your relationship into an opportunity to deepen your connection.
About us
We facilitate innovative leadership development, inclusion, and community-building programming through the lens of inheritance*. *A new definition of inheritance (noun): ancestry, culture, beliefs, values, stories, social conditions, traits, and perspectives received from past generations. Our inheritance is more than the physical items passed from one generation to the next. It includes the beliefs and behaviors we inherit from our family and society, as well as our ancestry, social conditions, culture, and values. It is the accumulation of our unique lived experiences that shape the individuals we are. Inheritance is not just something we come into, it’s what we can connect through and the root cause of most conflicts in our workplaces and society. Our programs teach leaders actionable tools to lead diverse teams, find common ground across lines of difference and turn conflict into constructive opportunities for collaboration. Our methodology centers experiential learning and human connection through deep listening. Learn more: https://www.inheritanceproject.org/

Conflict is defined as a struggle resulting from opposing needs, drives, wishes, or demands. #Conflict is an inevitable part of the human experience, because each of us has different needs, wishes, and demands, as a result of our different identities, inherited beliefs, world views, and life experiences. Human conflicts are happening every moment of every day: on the global scale in the form of war and violence, as well as in the boardroom, and within our families and personal relationships. Despite the ubiquity of conflict, most of us are woefully ill-equipped to deal with it. The majority of us have inherited the belief system that life is a zero-sum game of “my needs versus your needs”, where I can only win at your expense. Sadly, we are now seeing the violence and horror that results when this commonplace perspective is taken to the extreme. It is time for a collective #evolution in our perspective and approach to conflict. If you are an #evolutionaryleader who wants to be part of this collective shift, join us for a 60-minute deep dive into Constructive Conflict led by Inheritance Project CEO, Katya Stepanov on Nov 16th. Are you with us? #evolutionaries #callingallevolutionaries #leadership #inclusiveleadership #connection

A great example of an inclusive and meaningful #icebreaker from our co-founder and masterful facilitator Mallory Combemale. If you try it with your team, we'd love to hear how it went in the comments! #facilitation #facilitationtips #facilitationtools #culture #culturebuilding #inclusion #inclusiveleadership
I know some of you have been wondering...why does Mallory have coconut milk beside her virtual facilitation set-up?! 🤔 It's part of one of my favorite The Inheritance Project icebreaker activities where we invite participants to bring an object that is meaningful to their inheritance, upbringing, or cultural background. I love this activity because it invites everyone to contribute at a level that feels comfortable to them. Participants may choose to share an object and story that is very deep and vulnerable, but they don't have to. Everyone gets the autonomy to decide what they share. I believe #icebreakers get a bad reputation because they often do not take into account the varying levels of #psychologicalsafety that exist on one team. Often, facilitators ask a team to be vulnerable or do something wayyyy outside their comfort zone right away without establishing the required #trust, and may not appreciate that some team members could feel much more hesitant or unsafe to open up than others for a variety of reasons, including role, hierarchy, race, gender and other identities and life experiences. Would you like more facilitation tools and inclusive, meaningful ways to build team culture? Then, join me next Thursday for a #LinkedInLive masterclass. You'll find the link to register in the comments, as well as my story behind the coconut milk !

The missing piece to your personal development journey: 🔑 INHERITANCE & ANCESTRAL HEALING. 🔑 It's easy to forget the impact our ancestors have on our lives, but it's essential to recognize it if we want to make conscious choices for ourselves. "I inherited complex PTSD, which is both a curse and a gift that has allowed me to learn more about my nervous system and the tools I need to make a change." - Katya Stepanov, CEO of Inheritance Project You could totally explore this on your own, but it's way more fun and enlightening with a group of other humans who are also exploring their inheritance and identity. Our Leadership Immersion started this week and we're so excited to lead this community of practice & accountability with a vast network of visionary leaders across the world 🌎 . . . . . #Ancestors #InheritanceProject #ComplexPTSD #InclusiveLeadership #dei #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #inclusion #diversity #equity #belonging #diversityandinclusion #diversityequityinclusion #diversitymatters #allyship #education #inclusionmatters #representationmatters #socialjustice #equality #antiracism #humanresources #culture #workplace #lgbtq #bipoc #deitraining

QUESTION FOR YOU ⬇️ How does your inheritance (country, culture, class, color, and creed) shape your identity? How does it shape the way you communicate with your colleagues? your boss? How does it impact your relationships and the ways you show up in the world? It's a lot to unpack in one IG post, but we'd love to hear from you. Comment below with your reflections! P.S. We're in the first week of our Leadership Immersion where we're deep diving into Inheritance and how it shapes us as leaders. Together, we're examining and transforming inherited beliefs that inhibit healthy leadership or contribute to unproductive team dynamics.
