At almost 100 years old, Dirty Franks is one of Philadelphia’s oldest and most beloved bars. If you’ve ever enjoyed a drink at the legendary institution, you know the vibe - cramped booths, cash only, tchotchkes, and great conversation with friends old and new. But did you know that the north wall of the bar has been a pioneering alternative art space since the 1950s? Off the Wall Gallery - which operates inside the bar, held its first formally organized exhibition in 1978, and continues to organize exhibitions. As we celebrate InLiquid’s 25th anniversary, we’re excited to collaborate with Off the Wall Gallery for an exhibition of work by InLiquid Member Artists, titled INLIQUID TOASTS 25 - featuring over 60 artworks by 34 InLiquid member artists! The exhibition is now open and on view through September 20. You can learn more and purchase artwork in the show here: https://lnkd.in/epEYkbYX

I’m excited to be part of the latest exhibition at InLiquid Gallery! In the seventh installment of its new member showcase, “New Now VII,” 23 artists of diverse mediums, inspirations, and histories, come together in the InLiquid Gallery. Though distinct, they are linked by the local community and a shared interest in the human experience. Many of the themes in the exhibition reflect our shared cultural zeitgeist, with artwork exploring ecological consciousness, consumerism, mental health, and digital reality. Through a wide variety of mediums and creative processes, including stained glass, metal machining, miniature making, painting, and assemblage, the 23 artists of New Now VII don’t shy away from any facet of the contemporary human experience, portraying the beauty of our world and provoking its anxieties and frustrations. This exhibition is on view at InLiquid Gallery from July 25- Aug 31, 2024. Join us for a Second Thursday Opening Reception on Thursday, August 8 from 6 - 9pm! • • • #phillyartists #phillyart #womenartist #artist #artinPhilly #freelancelife #freelanceartist #freelance #painter #acrilicpainting #watercolorartist #folkartist #poscapens #acrylicpainting #artistinphilly #philadelphiaartist #philadelphiaart #landscapartist #abstractartist #howtopaintabstract #whimsicallandscape #multimediaartist #inliquidart

For the past 25 years, InLiquid has stood as a beacon of support and resources for the Greater Philadelphia region’s arts scene. These last few months have brought to light the fragility within our community. One that we all have felt and sadly will continue to feel for some time. We at InLiquid want all to know: Our doors are open, and our staff is at the ready. From artist resources, collaboration opportunities, art openings and community needs yet to be realized, we’re committed to ensuring that OUR brilliant, robust, and active arts community has everything that it needs.

Opening tomorrow…I’m thrilled and honored to share the news of my first solo museum exhibition! Whiskey Rebellion is coming to the Museum of the American Revolution ⭐️ My deepest thanks to the museum for their commitment to telling a bigger, more inclusive story of our nation’s founding, and for bringing me and my work into the conversation. From the press release: The Museum of the American Revolution is pleased to present Whiskey Rebellion, an installation of sculptures by Philadelphia artist John Y. Wind in the second-floor Oneida Indian Nation Atrium. Wind transforms hand-painted, ceramic decanters of key figures from the American Revolution that were produced by the Jim Beam Distilling Company and their competitors in the 1960s-70s to circumvent a new federal whiskey tax and tap into Bicentennial fever. Coinciding with Pride month, the show recontextualizes these figures while exploring issues of masculinity, heroism, diversity, and the very notion of commemoration through a 21st century lens.
