Alabama's next generation is bright, passionate and eager to make their mark on the state. Meet University of Alabama student Rylen Dempsey, SEEK AL enthusiast and FuelAL participant, as he describes what talent retention in the state of Alabama means to him. “Talent retention to me is not about building walls around the state of Alabama, what it means to me is that we should attract, and keep, wonderful talent. Innovate Alabama board members Britney Summerville and state Representative Danny Garrett recently shared our perspective on the state's innovation ecosystem, from what we've accomplished thus far to what we still must tackle, particularly when it comes to venture capital. The Alabama Securities Commission took a step in the right direction by issuing a new order that exempts certain investment fund advisers from the registration provisions of the Alabama Securities Act, which will help to grow the state’s startup ecosystem and make us more competitive in recruiting investors. While there is still more to do to advance innovation in Alabama, we are proud of how far our state has come and look forward to the future. As someone whose job required him to travel, Larry Donelson was always happy to come home to Huntsville. Now, as CEO and co-founder of InTerra, Inc. Donelson produces GPS-enabled ground control points for the drone mapping and surveying industry, along with the software for processing the data. In his role, he’s able to spend time outside working with construction and infrastructure. Alabama's natural beauty and selection of outdoor activities helped Donelson fall in love with the Rocket City, and now, it’s where he sees himself retiring. #SEEKAL #InnovateAlabama https://lnkd.in/egJXBdPM
