We want to wish a happy 234th birthday to the United States Coast Guard! Insitu is proud to have many U.S. Coast Guard veterans on our teams, including Dave Nauta, Business Development Specialist. We caught up with Dave to ask him a few questions about his time with the #USCG and here at Insitu. When and where did you serve? I served on active duty from January 1990 through February 2011 both afloat and ashore. After retirement, I worked in the Coast Guard Acquisitions Directorate as the Director of UAS Installation and Integration for the Legend class of ships where we changed the face of Coast Guard aviation by introducing and operating the first of it’s kind UAS onboard Coast Guard ships supporting the Coast Guard’s eleven statutory missions. Anything you want to say to the next generation of Coasties? The next generation of Coast Guardsman are excelling in the face of some of the most significant challenges in our nation’s history. With significant budget shortfalls, less people and an aging fleet of aircraft and ships, today’s Coastie are competent and capable that live by the CG’s moto of Semper Paratus, “Always Ready” through the successful execution of their duty. Anything else you’d like to add? The Coast Guard helped shape me. I am passionate about the missions, the people and most importantly service to the United States of America. Serving in the Coast Guard uniform is one of the most significant things I’ve ever done in my life and I’m proud of it. Happy 234th birthday!

We are proud to see ScanEagle play a small part in supporting Operation Polar Dagger. From DVIDS: "Operation Polar Dagger provided Special Operations Command North and special operations units the opportunity to refine a range of capabilities and response options to deter, disrupt, degrade, and deny competitor activity in the Arctic in support of U.S. Northern Command and layered defense of the homeland." Yesterday we introduced you to Insitu’s 2024 summer intern class. And while they truly are the G.O.A.T. interns, we have one more set of summer helpers we want you to meet… 150 of them, to be exact. And they are literal 🐐! The 2024 summer groundskeeping crew is hard at work cleaning up the area around Insitu HQ in Bingen, WA. Their onsite managers, Brooks and Dunn, are keeping them on task as they hack through a deep backlog of blackberry bushes and underbrush. It’s a thorny task, but we think it will help them learn valuable skills toward their B.A.A.A.A.A. degrees…

We’re excited to introduce Insitu’s 2024 Summer Intern class! Our interns work with teams across our organization on real ongoing projects, learning first-hand as they contribute to top quality results for our customers. We reached out to our interns to ask them their school/major/year, what they are excited to work on at Insitu, and what are their plans after school. Here’s what they have to say! Lily Rzonca: I go to University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business. I am class of 2025 and am studying business administration. Insitu has been an excellent place to gain hands-on experience in the supply chain processes that drive a business forward. I genuinely enjoy working with the team here! After school, my goal is to dive into the world of supply chain and procurement or product marketing management. Nicholas Baker: I attend Yale School of Management, MBA Class of ’25. I’m most excited about learning about the nuances of a hardware producing business. After I graduate, I want to continue working in a strategic capacity at a company I feel is making a difference. Trey Keyser: I’m starting my sophomore year at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I’m excited to learn and get some quality hands-on experience regarding the design, implementation, and sustainment that goes into the extensive manufacturing processes here at Insitu. I’m still exploring my options for after college, but I do know that I would love to pursue engineering within the aerospace industry. Quade Stiansen: I’m a senior at Oregon State University with a Dual Major in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering with minor in Aerospace. I am excited to help optimize the production and assembly process for the Skyhook Mark 3 and the N40 engine. After school, I aspire to contribute my skills to the design and development of advanced aerospace systems at companies like NASA, SpaceX, and Insitu. Thanks to all of you for the great work you’re already doing at Insitu, and we look forward to what the rest of the summer brings!
