Take these steps today to address three areas of your home vulnerable to high wind to prepare ahead of the peak of #HurricaneSeason: ✔️ Roof - Invest in a stronger roof like FORTIFIED that's scientifically proven to keep the wind and rain out. ✔️ Windows - Purchase hurricane shutters to prevent flying debris from breaking in. ✔️ Garage door - Select a wind-rated garage door so high wind can't push in, building pressure that can cause a cascade of damage. #Mississippi earned the honor of “most improved” as its total score jumped 15 points, the largest gain in the 5th edition of IBHS's Rating the States, a report evaluating building codes. The Magnolia State made great strides by requiring statewide licensing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and general contractors, along with competency requirements and continuing education. However, our experts suggest Mississippi enhance state-level code adoption and enforcement programs as it faces substantial risks from windstorms, including #hurricanes, severe #thunderstorms and #tornadoes. #RatingTheStates

What's the function of a hail impact disdrometer? 🤔 It measures the size distributions and impact energy of falling hailstones. The IBHS Hail Field Study team has used them for almost a decade. This data helps us to better understand #hail impacts on building materials.
