This month, Instituto was awarded the 2024 Community Impact Grant alongside Hope Chicago! We were incredibly honored to receive this award during our visit to the Chicago office on PayPal Impact Day. This was the first PayPal Impact Day in which staff came together to pack kits from local small businesses for us to distribute to the communities we serve. We cannot thank PayPal and their entire team enough for their support and such an inspiring day. ✨

We are thrilled to share the incredible success of our inaugural CBOC Macy's Day event! 🌟 We hosted 50 job seekers, from underserved under represented communities of Chicago, representing 12 of our CBOC member organizations. These participants experienced a day filled with professional development and empowerment that left a lasting impact on their career journeys. The day began with attendees being transported by coach bus to Macy's State Street store in downtown Chicago. Upon arrival, participants attended a professional etiquette workshop, equipping them with essential interviewing skills and tips, enhancing their readiness for the job market. Macy’s personal shoppers provided head-to-toe outfitting, ensuring that each participant looked and felt confident for their interviews and job searches. Macy's identified several candidates for immediate consideration, creating real opportunities. Lunch in the world-famous Walnut Room provided a perfect setting for networking with Macy’s store leadership, employees, and fellow job seekers. Participants also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of Macy’s, gaining valuable insights into careers in the retail industry. We extend our most heartfelt thank you's to Matthew Sarosy, Sr. Director Store Manager at Macy's State Street, Gino Tarallo and his amazing catering team for providing an exquisite culinary experience for our attendees, and the incomparable team of personal stylists: Anissa, Patty, Ann, Fanny, Darlene, Erica, and Robbie for their impeccable fashion and style guidance throughout the day. We thank our CBOC member organizations: Central States SER, Chicago Urban League, Heartland Human Care Services, Phalanx Family Services, West Side Forward, Cara Connects, Instituto del Progreso Latino, UCAN (Chicago), Metropolitan Family Services, Safer Foundation, Skills for Chicagoland's Future, and YWCA Metropolitan Chicago. A special shoutout to the job seekers who showed up for themselves and took the time to invest in their careers. The event not only boosted their self-esteem and confidence but also reaffirmed the importance of the work we do at CBOC. Seeing the light and smiles on their faces as a result of this event is the reason why the CBOC exists and why we are committed to empowering our community. Your dedication to your personal and professional growth inspires us every day! #CBOCollective #MacysStateStreet #MacysDay
