  • ICA has been recognized as a Power of Associations Silver Award Winner by the American Society of Association Executives ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership for the IDEA: Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access initiative. ICA’s Executive Director, Laura Sawyer, MA, CAE: “We are immensely proud to receive this recognition for the years of work we have done since 2017 to build not only ICA’s inclusion, accessibility, equity, and diversity efforts, but to use these programs to build a true sense of belonging for our members and attendees across numerous identities within the ICA community. From our groundbreaking programs aimed at preserving access to career opportunities for parents in formative career stages–a huge inequity for women that leads to decades of lost income and lifetime earning capacity–through nursing rooms, a kids picnic, and heavily subsidized childcare; to religious observance, a quiet room, and AA meetings; from a Black Scholars’ reception/caucus-building event and an annual LGBTQIA+@ICA gathering to gender-neutral restrooms and special attention paid to mobility, vision, medical, and hearing-related accessibility, the ICA we see going into our 75th anniversary next year is much different than the ICA of our founders in 1950…or even the ICA of ten years ago. We look forward to our further evolution as ICA’s doors welcome an even greater diversity of scholars within our 33 division and interest groups.” ASAE President and CEO Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE: “Congratulations to the International Communication Association for exemplifying the impact associations have on the industries and professions they represent, and on society at large. It’s always so incredibly satisfying to see associations going above and beyond their everyday mission to change the world. We’re very proud to spotlight this award-winning initiative.” To learn more about IDEA visit: On Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access: Statement from the Executive Committee of the International Communication Association (ICA): https://lnkd.in/eXNrHFdB 2024 ASAE Power of Associations Award Recipients: https://lnkd.in/eaba6CyF

  • ICA24: Know Before You Go PREPARING FOR YOUR PRESENTATION - Sessions differ depending on session type and Division or Interest Group. If you have any questions, such as how long your presentation should be, please contact either your session chair or Division/IG Planner. (Typically, there is a 15 minute Q&A so the session's remaining hour is divided among the number of presentations. Four papers, then, means 15 mins per paper). - An easy way to know if your session is a hybrid session is to see the word "HYBRID" at the beginning of your session title. - Per usual, we recommend that everyone bring their own laptop to present. Only hybrid sessions will have a laptop provided, but in-person sessions will not. Connections between laptops and the projector will be via HDMI cable. Presenters should be certain that their laptop has the appropriate port to connect with an HDMI cable. Presenters who have Macbooks should have the required dongle/adapter to connect a HDMI cable. - Bring your presentation on a USB or bring your laptop to connect or, if you are in a hybrid session, follow the instructions that were emailed to you specifically as a hybrid presenter. WHAT TO BRING (the highlights) - power adapter for your country's type of plug - charging cables for all devices For more on TRAVEL TIPS, MOBILE APP & EVENT WEBSITE, SCHEDULE/PDF PROGRAM, CHECK IN/PICK UP NAME BADGE, ACCESSIBILITY, SOCIAL EVENTS and CONFERENCE CODE OF CONDUCT, please visit ICA's Online Member Community, The Link: https://lnkd.in/eAT8F6cJ
