About us
Founded in 1990, the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) is the first and largest organization focusing specifically on multiple myeloma. The IMF’s reach extends to more than 525,000 members in 140 countries worldwide. The IMF is dedicated to improving the quality of life of myeloma patients while working toward prevention and a cure through our four founding principles: Research, Education, Support, and Advocacy. The IMF has conducted more than 250 educational seminars worldwide, maintains a world-renowned InfoLine, and in 2001, established the International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG), a collaborative research initiative focused on improving myeloma treatment options for patients. In 2012, the IMF launched the Black Swan Research Initiative®, a groundbreaking research project aimed at curing myeloma. The IMF can be reached at (800) 452-CURE (2873). The global website is www.myeloma.org. Follow the IMF on Twitter @IMFmyeloma.

A Letter from Linda: When I was first diagnosed with myeloma blood cancer, I felt scared and overwhelmed, because I had never heard of multiple myeloma and didn't know anyone who had battled this disease. When I first joined a support group, I felt reassured, because I saw a group of patients living normal lives and dealing with their treatments. I became a support group leader because our group needed a new leader and I wanted to help others. As a support group leader, I learned a lot about myeloma and ways to share this with other patients. My knowledge helps assure others that they can handle this journey. To me, being a support group leader means a lot of responsibility that also offers a lot of satisfaction in knowing I've helped others cope with myeloma. The International Myeloma Foundation’s Support Group Leaders Summit empowers me to learn, network, and learn how to teach others to do the same. Because of the International Myeloma Foundation, I feel knowledgeable and valued as a support group leader because they provide the tools, contacts, and support to learn and lead. Raising money to support the International Myeloma Foundation is important to me, because their mission is so valuable in helping patients understand myeloma, feel empowered and positive that new treatments and ultimately a cure is coming thanks to their work. Donate to the IMF and help empower patients and care partners: https://mmsm.link/3KZCa4m
