The International Center sincerely mourns the loss of James T. Morris, a longtime friend of The Center. Over the years, Jim Morris supported and collaborated with The International Center in various capacities. First, under the vision and leadership of the then-Mayor of Indianapolis, Richard Lugar, who in 1973 conceptualized The International Center, Jim played a key role such as the Chief of Staff to Mayor Lugar. His passion for The International Center led to Jim’s role as a long-time board member and more recently as a current board emeritus. For his contributions to a global Indiana, Jim was recognized as the International Citizen of the Year in 2005, an esteemed acknowledgment for local citizens who are honored for their longstanding commitment to supporting global initiatives in Indiana. Further, in recognizing The International Center’s 50th Anniversary, Jim was celebrated with a 2023 “50 for 50” certificate and golden globe. His passion for developing emerging leaders led to the James T. Morris Global Leadership Series, the only global leadership development series in Indiana, where he was personally involved in creating the curriculum and presented it annually to each of the cohorts.
We owe a debt of gratitude to Jim Morris for his endearing support of The International Center and his dedication to developing civically engaged global citizens.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Jackie and the entire Morris family as we remember Jim as a good friend, mentor, and long-time supporter of our organization.”
