Great day for the Iowa Nitrogen Initiative (INI) field day at Bloomsbury Farms near Atkins, Iowa in Benton County. The INI has nearly 500 on-farm trials this year with the goal of better understanding how field environments, weather conditions and nitrogen rates impact corn yields. Thanks to Dave, Karen, Sammy and Jessica Petersen for hosting the event. Bob Quinn and the Big Show covered the event. Roger Zylstra has been running INI trials for three years and shared his experiences with Bob on split nitrogen applications and how cover crops and no-till have made his farm more resilient. Iowa corn farmers have increased their nitrogen use efficiency by 33% to 0.8 pounds of nitrogen per bushel from 1.2 pounds per bushel in the past. Results from the INI will improve nitrogen management recommendations and help farmers increase their N use efficiency even more.

We asked for feedback, and we got roasted...by ChatGPT! It turns out our love for corn🌽runs deep - and may just be a little too corny at times. Swipe through for some laughs as we embrace our a-maize-ing commodity and all the things that come with it. 😂

One of the highlights of Iowa Corn’s tour for the I-LEAD program across our great state was the opportunity to visit Lock & Dam 12 in Bellevue. During this very informative, interactive tour we learned how lock and dams deliver vital engineering solutions that secure our nation, energize our economy, and reduce disaster risk.

Corn is not just everything but EVERYWHERE, including the National Balloon Classic in Indianola, Iowa! Not only is this the largest, and oldest, hot air balloon 🎈 event, but it serves as a great place to connect with consumers on the 4,000 every day products made using corn. What events have you seen our Iowa Corn🌽 Mobile Education Unit at this summer?!
