About us

The iRISE (improving Reproducibility In SciencE) Project is a Horizon Europe initiative, to provide a richer and deeper understanding of drivers of poor reproducibility; and secondly to conduct a detailed evaluation – including primary research – of the effectiveness of interventions to increase reproducibility. It will present concrete solutions of tools and interventions that will help increase the quality, reliability and re-usability of scientific evidence. It focuses on areas of science where a reproducibility problem is already recognised (e.g., clinical trials, preclinical research, social sciences), providing theoretical and empirical evidence describing the effectiveness of specific interventions (the “toolbox”). iRISE will propose a framework for a robust, evidence-based road map for the development, assessment and implementation of interventions intended to improve reproducibility (the “framework”).

In July, OSIRIS, TIER2 Project & iRISE came together for an inspiring collaborative meeting. During the event, we took the opportunity to talk to Kaitlyn Hair & Stephanie Zellers about what makes iRISE unique among our three Horizon Europe-funded projects. 💡A month after our productive General Assembly in Athens, partners from #OSIRIS, TIER2 Project, and iRISE_EU reunited in Edinburgh for a collaborative meeting to maintain our momentum. 🤝 Our goal was to dig deeper into reproducibility challenges and establish the next steps forward. We explored our initiatives, strategizing how to tackle challenges and set our strategic priorities. The discussions were designed to foster collaboration and generate insights, with a strong focus on dialogue over presentations. 🏰 To conclude, we connected with the stunning landscapes of Scotland, drawing inspiration from nature as we chart the course ahead. We are poised to turn these discussions into concrete actions that will drive innovation and increase reproducibility! Over the first two days of the 3Rep (OSIRIS-TIER2-iRISE) meeting in Edinburgh, we've been reflecting on the lasting impact our three projects will have. On the first afternoon, we examined the similarities and differences between our projects, and generated ideas around next steps, blue-sky challenges, and strategic priorities in the meta-science space. So far today, we have built on these discussions through group work, leading to the creation of new research questions and project ideas. Presenting these ideas to the wider group allowed for valuable feedback and questions. Next, we will focus on integrating these ideas and exploring them in greater detail. This collaborative and interactive meeting is an exciting opportunity to consider the big picture and strategize on implementing changes. Next week, we are excited to welcome representatives from our three Horizon Europe funded projects—TIER2, iRISE, and OSIRIS—to a collaborative meeting in Edinburgh. Our goal is to integrate diverse perspectives, ideas, and approaches to identify key challenges and strategic priorities in the meta-science and reproducibility space. We will also plan the next steps for integrating and implementing our projects’ findings and share ideas on how to collaboratively tackle these challenges. We look forward to this valuable opportunity for collaboration. #irise_eu #europeanprojects #reproducibility #researchintegrity

Earlier this month, adjacent to the 8th World Conference on Research Integrity in Athens, iRISE held a successful consortium meeting with our partners from OSIRIS and TIER2 Project. This gathering marked a significant milestone in our collaborative journey.    Key Highlights:  Stakeholder Input:  Community feedback is essential to inform the direction of our project. The stakeholder forum provided valuable input on improving communication of our findings, ensuring our outputs are inclusive and accessible.  Work Package Collaboration:  Important discussions on overlapping work packages helped identify synergies and establish timelines for the next phase. This is crucial for consolidating evidence within iRISE and creating implementation guides for interventions to improve reproducibility.  Networking and Collaboration:  The meeting fostered strong connections among our TIER2 and OSIRIS colleagues. The openness and collaborative spirit demonstrated by all partners were inspiring, emphasising a genuine effort to improve reproducibility rather than competitiveness.  Diversity and Inclusion:  Our consortium’s diverse backgrounds and perspectives are key to our innovative and effective collaboration. Embracing diversity enhances creativity, problem-solving, and ensures our research is relevant to a wider audience.  Delivering Evidence:  We have a lot of work ahead of us to compile the evidence generated within iRISE. Our focus will be on delivering robust implementation guides and ensuring our research informs policy effectively.  Thank you to everyone involved for their contributions and commitment. The insights gained and connections made during this meeting have laid a solid foundation for our continued success. We look forward to the next steps in our collaborative efforts.  #ResearchCollaboration #Reproducibility
