This was a concurrent session delivered at the ITE 2024 Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Philadelphia. Due to extenuating circumstances, the session was ended prior to the scheduled time. We are glad to deliver this virtually to our membership and allow the moderator and presenters their allotted time. Over the last five years, more than half of fatal crashes in urban areas occurred on state-managed roads, where local leaders have limited authority to implement safety changes. As communities increasingly receive encouragement and funding to prioritize safety on their most dangerous roads, it’s essential to address these barriers to improving safety. This session will discuss common pain points and strategies for collaborative efforts, sharing lessons learned from initiatives work on state-owned roads in cities. https://bit.ly/4d8yz0m

I recently had the opportunity to attend the ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. It was a pleasure to meet with others to discuss, learn, and collaborate on the critical topic of roadway #safety. The agenda provided so many sessions on important topics such as speed management, multimodal design, and a Safe System Approach, that it was difficult to choose which sessions to attend when those sessions overlapped. I appreciated the opportunity to gather with colleagues from across the country in many different settings. Here, a number of us from HNTB gathered for a quick photo. And, a group of attendees gathered early on Monday morning to run up the Rocky Steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art -- which of course triggered conversations on roadway safety! #BeingHNTB.

Two weeks ago, over 1,400 transportation professionals attended the ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. 1. The Board of Directors met beforehand and we had a very productive meeting talking about some initiatives and how to continue to improve our services to our members and the community. After the Board meeting ended on Saturday, we enjoyed a historic walking tour in Philly. 2. It was great reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. I also got to meet HNTB coworkers. 3. Congratulations to ITE newest Honorary Members. Thanks for your leadership and commitment to giving back to the profession. 4. Thanks Cipriana Patterson, P.E., PTOE for your leadership in putting together Tuesday’s plenary session and your incredible panelists for challenging us to not be a neutral expert but to do things differently. Looking forward to continuing the conversation. 5. Congratulations to Purdue ITE for winning the Traffic Bowl. Enjoyed being one of the judges of the competition. 6. Congratulations to FIU ITE Student Chapter students for taking first and second place in the HSIS Student Paper competition, winning ITE Sandbox Competition, among other accomplishments. 7. We celebrated Marsha Anderson Bomar, Ph.D., AICP, ENV SP, F.ASCE, H.ITE and the 30 year anniversary of becoming the first ITE Women President. You opened the doors for other women and continue to be a trailblazing leader in our community. This month Women in ITE blog is dedicated to Marsha and her trailblazing leadership. Check it out. 8. Honored to be part of the amazing group of ITE Past Presidents. Thanks for your support and dedication to ITE. 9. I also enjoyed being the Emcee for the Awards Luncheon and call all the winners to the stage to be recognized. Thanks to the Mid-Colonial District ITE LAC for great technical tours, events and your hospitality. And special thanks to #ITE staff for all your work and support to our organization. We can’t do what we do without you. Looking forward to seeing you in Orlando next year. Save the date!

Building on Farukh Ijaz, P.E. post, I wanted to thank everyone who volunteered, presented, and attended ITE's Met Section 12th Annual "sold out" Tech Conference. We had a great keynote speaker (Charles C. Ukegbu, Ed.D, Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Planning, NYCDOT ) who was able to tie in the theme between the planners and operations folks. Also, who said engineering cannot be fun as we were able to combine a boxing theme with a Phil Donahue format to keep everyone entertained? And finally, what I always wanted to do to start a conference.....check out the video. See you next year. https://lnkd.in/enhrcRKw ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals, ITS NJ, NYMTC; ITE Met Section; ITS-NY, Adam Levine, Steve Levine, Amar Ali, PE, PMP, Jeevanjot Singh, Alicia Posner, Michael La Fazia, PE, LEED Green Associate, Matt Lorenz; Adam Allen, P.E., PTOE; Gordon Meth; Seth Zubatkin, P.E.; Ayla Alvarez; Florence Wong, P.E., PTOE, Emad Makarious, P.E., PTOE, RSP1, Sabrina Harrison, EIT,Kimberly Gmuer, E.I.
