Safety, Support & Solutions for Abuse

About us

Founded in 1976, JBWS celebrates 45 years of offering hope and safety to victims of domestic violence and their families. Our mission is the prevention of domestic violence through the protection and empowerment of the victim, the rehabilitation of family members, the advocacy of social reform to prevent partner violence, and the education of the public about domestic violence and its consequences. Services include a 24-hour helpline (973-267-4763), safe house, transitional living, counseling, children's services, batterers' intervention, vocational counseling and more. Additionally, JBWS is the lead partner agency for the Morris Family Justice Center, a coordinated, one-stop resource provided by multiple service agencies and led by JBWS. Our vision is to create a community-wide culture that refuses to tolerate the presence of any form of family or partner violence. JBWS is a private, nonprofit, tax-exempt agency based in Morris County, NJ. To learn more about JBWS' critical mission, visit www.jbws.org or call 973-267-7520.

JBWS is launching a podcast! On October 1, 2024 the first episode of Unsilenced: Real Conversations About Abuse will be available on YouTube, Spotify, and other platforms! This podcast aims to end the culture of silence that surrounds domestic violence through raw and unfiltered conversations about abuse. Guests will likely include survivors of abuse, people who have used abuse, psychologists, social workers, and others impacted by domestic violence. We have already recorded several episodes of this weekly podcast such as: ➡ Why Do People Abuse Others? ➡ Why Won’t Victims Just Leave Abusive Relationships? ➡ What Does Emotional Abuse Look and Feel Like? ➡ Is Self-Care Realistic for People Experiencing Abuse? ➡ What Is It Like to be a Child At Shelter? ➡ Can People Who Have Caused Harm Really Change? Please help us end the stigma associated with domestic abuse by subscribing to Unsilenced: Real Conversations About Abuse! Please also share this post with your followers to help us increase conversations about abuse even more! Carlos went through JBWS' Abuse Ceases Today (A.C.T.) program three times before he was able to accept accountability for his abusive behavior. Originally, Carlos made excuses for what he had done. However, this time was different and he began to recognize the impact of his behavior on his children. He realized to have a loving relationship with them he needed to change.  Read Carlos' Story: https://lnkd.in/eRdXU37q

Thank you to members of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts for donating more than 300 backpacks filled with supplies to children in our services. This generous donation means that countless families impacted by abuse won't have to worry about purchasing school supplies this year. We look forward to Wyndham’s Annual Backpack Mania Event every year. Thank you so much for your continued support!
