Today I received what I thought was an interesting phone call from a recruiter about a job at Dell for an IT Program Director 🙄. I thought, great, I'm crazy tired of looking for new work and this came to me, hurray!!!
The name of the company is https://lnkd.in/evTjhyaE out of Nevada, I get this call from "Amy", who tell me all about the job and provides only a part of the details but enough to make it appealing that I sent my resume following our call, but she indicated if I had actually really paid attention to the JD, so I asked what she meant. She continued to further point out that the role required an active SCRUM Master cert or one "in progress". So I responded with letting her know if it was a mandate, I did not have one but upon being hired, I would take the certification but not proactively. She then goes to state that I must at least show them I am actively subscribed for the course and that the Dell hiring manager would consider it, so without second thoughts, I agreed I would start to look at it if an interview was lined up. She goes on to tell me they are presenting 35 people and hiring 5... but she really felt my background would be selected. She puts me on hold and checks with her lead, after a few moment's, indicates its fine for me to wait on Dell's interest of my background.
1 hour later, surprisingly, I get a call back from Amy's manager named "Neel" that Dell wants to interview me. I'm think geez that was quick for such a large company, this must be a really critical need. He then proceeds to tell me if I have read the job description clearly and if I had any questions and pursues the topic of SCRUM certification and need to have an active scheduled training class because they will only consider me if I do and I must do it fast because the manager wants to interview me within the next couple of days. Now this starts to smell funny, so I begin to ask him questions about his company, they have no LinkedIn profile and the website has a bogus NV address. The recruiters don't exist on LinkedIn nor does Dell have any such open roles, but I still continue the conversation. So I tell him I will go look at the certification requirements and providers, he then stops me and says, you know, we have received a list of accredited courses from the hiring manager because he wants to make sure the courses are legit so he forwards me the email. Upon review, the schools are off brand unknown Shopify stores selling courses with an array of popups offering discounts... major red flag, but I continue to see how far this will go.
As I begin to question him, he then gets frustrated and tells me no one is pushing me to apply and it is my loss since the hiring manager has already seen my profile and wants an interview but that it is ok, they get positions from many other companies like Capgemini, Accenture, etc... I then hang up and tell him I'm not interested.
Hoping this might help someone be aware!
