According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 188 measles cases have been reported so far this year. That's triple the 2023 total. Fortunately, no deaths have been reported. However, 93 people have been hospitalized — mostly children under 5 years old. “We live in a global community where vaccination rates everywhere affect diseases that are transmitted in the United States,” said Dr. Erica Prochaska, a pediatric infectious diseases specialist at the Children’s Center. “But the main issue is that in the United States, our population isn’t at the threshold of vaccination that we should be.” Hear more from experts about this dangerous uptick and what parents should do to keep kids safe ➡️ https://nbcnews.to/4dnuwgc #Measles #KidsHealth

When pediatric cardiologist John Thomson was planning a procedure for a patient with congenital heart disease, he made use of a 3D-printed plastic model of that patient’s heart. By holding and turning this replica, Dr. Thomson was able to study the heart’s blood vessels up close 🫀 “It allowed me to almost re-create the intervention and fit a stent in there to work out how we could do things — and if it was doable,” he explains. Read more about how Dr. Thomson and others at the Johns Hopkins Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center have employed 3D heart models for some patients ➡️ https://bit.ly/46CJpJx #HopkinsHearts #CHDAwareness #KidsHealth
