    We recently filled a Director, Transportation role for one of our clients and it was so much fun to partner with their executive team and find that perfect match.     At J Recruiting, many of our clients ask their candidates to take assessments as part of the interview process. This isn't new news and should not be a shock to candidates. Our #tipTuesday for this week is: TAKE THOSE ASSESSMENTS SERIOUSLY. We have had many candidates mention AFTER an assessment was completed that they didn't realize the employer would take the results so seriously. Other times, candidates mention they wish they would have known they should take it with a notepad or in a quiet room. Here is our tip. ALWAYS take an assessment seriously in the hiring process. Think about it - why on earth would an employer invest in having you take the assessment if it wasn't a great way to assess skills or abilities for the role? Your ability to be prepared for the unknown and complete the assessment on time are also being assessed as you complete it. Below are a few easy ways to make sure you put your best foot forward when taking an assessment:  1. Check your spam folder! If you were supposed to receive an assessment but haven't, they're often hanging out in your spam folder from an unknown sender.  2. Take the assessment in a quiet space without distractions. This is the time to focus.  3. Ask your recruiter how long you should plan to take the assessment (they range from 5 minutes to 2 hours and you want to be prepared)  4. Have a notepad and pen ready (you never know when math or notes may be needed)  5. Always notify your recruiter or the potential employer when you've completed them to keep things moving forward

    Have you ever had a recruiter actually listen to what you’re looking for and reach back out a year later with that exact job? If yes, you know how special it makes you feel. If not, you’re in good company because the truth is most recruiters are so focused on a single opening that they forget to ask the right questions to keep you in mind for the FUTURE. Building a candidate database that truly speaks to what candidates are interested in takes time and an intentional process. Luckily, we've done just that. This week's five-star review is from a #candidate who had that “special feeling” and felt SO valued and heard by getting that call with her dream job almost 12 months after our initial conversation with her.  It is incredible to see our #systems at work to keep great #retail talent organized with detailed notes about what they're genuinely looking for and ultimately help them find that #dreamjob when the time is right. This is also such a benefit to our #clients because we have that warm pipeline of candidates that we connect with each and every week just waiting for your next opening resulting in a faster "time to fill". Congrats to this #candidate on their new chapter in #retail!   We also want to give a big #kudos to Cheri Jackman for a candidate who felt all the love!
