It's Attendance Awareness Month! 🏫 Did you know that chronic absence can impact a student's proficiency in reading by third grade? Even starting in kindergarten, missing just a couple of days a month can hinder critical literacy skill development. In honor of #AttendanceAwarenessMonth, we're proud to work with and feature Attendance Works, a national leader and resource hub dedicated to advancing student success and closing equity gaps by tackling chronic absence. Let's ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive in school: https://lnkd.in/egkmc-x #StudentSuccess #AttendanceMatters #AttendanceWorks

Happy #InternationalLiteracyDay! For children with intellectual disabilities (ID), acquiring reading skills is a basic step toward achieving independence, social inclusion, and participation in the community. Last Friday we had special guests come to Parc Center for Disabilities and read to the kiddos at Discovery Learning Center. This story was "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and not only did everyone enjoy the book, but we enjoyed eating cookies too! After all, if you give a mouse a cookie - why not give our 2 year-olds one too? They were all so well behaved and enjoyed the book too! You can help us continue to provide Life Skills Development programs that help with their literacy skills and more. Click here https://lnkd.in/gvgVBDz to donate. During National Childhood Injury Prevention Week and year-round, let's prioritize our children's safety. Remember to follow the Safe Sleep ABCs: always put babies to sleep Alone on their Backs in an empty Crib with only a tight-fitting sheet. Additionally, ensure car seat safety, supervise children near water, and take precautions to prevent general injuries.
