We relaunched Kiki.nyc 4 months ago and just hit 100 matches, $200k rent saved, $20k rev and 2400 nights booked with $0 spent on marketing. But the most special part of all is we’ve met every single person in Kiki for a coffee or FaceTime! Yes every single one. When we launched nyc the first time last year we were so disconnected from our users so we took a huge risk and started from scratch with an approach no one had done before. They said we were crazy but as a result we’ve started building something incredibly special with most kikiers subletting for the very first time and multiple people have gone away for 4+ trips this year and had their rent covered. We’ve started to see people go on trips they never would’ve before Kiki existed and the beginning of people changing how they live for the better like we saw in Sydney. This is just the start of getting the fire started in nyc then pulling off something thousands have tried and failed to do… changing how New Yorkers live for the better. We’ve actually been flooded with applications since announcing it a few days ago. But sadly most our networks kiwis & aussies and we need someone already living here 🗽 We only moved permanently to NYC last year from New Zealand & Sydney so have a very small American network as just been grinding. Today our number 1 goal is matching people looking for sublets. You’ll be working closely with Toby, match making and talking to all our users daily, meeting them coffees and FaceTimes. This is the most important role in Kiki right now as we can’t keep up with the sudden increased demand! What experience do I need? 🎓 Nothing! We’re looking for someone who’s hungry, passionate about helping others, and excited to be a part of this early team. 80% of our users are women and you must create a safe environment for everyone in Kiki. When we launched Kiki.nyc last year I fucked up. We raised a big round, had big goals and tried to hit those as fast as possible but ended up sacrificing quality along the way. We filled 100 homes in 3 months but no one loved us, we never got an intense fire started like we did in Sydney. So we relaunched a few weeks ago with a very different approach, you can only use Kiki if you meet me or the team for a coffee /FaceTime (yes every single person). I’ve had almost 50 coffees and it’s been honestly unbelievable. No one’s tackled the problem before like this and people are blown away. It sounds crazy but I believe we can keep doing this for a year…(hire chief coffee officers 👀) And as a result last night we hit 10 matches!! - $26k rent saved - $2.5k revenue - 327 nights booked (almost a whole year!) but most importantly a bloody incredible group of people all sparking the beginning of Kiki’s intense fire in NYC. This photo’s from our office warming last week. It was just, special. This is who we’re building Kiki for. We even printed out a giant map of NYC and have been glueing all our Kikiers’ faces on it 🫶 I thought I already knew this but more users is not better! I can’t reinforce this enough. As Sarah Tavel preaches chase “happy GMV” (which means all your users have to love it or you screwed up) Hopefully next time you see the map it will be covered head to toe with thousands of very happy faces 😉 Talk soon 🥨

Kiki.nyc officially has more personal homes listed in NYC than Airbnb or any other platform. Yes you read that right. We only launched 3 weeks ago and have 244 active homes. So we stood outside Airbnb’s offices to celebrate and everyone thought we were @dudewithsign hahaha

We hired 2 legends, moved to NYC, only launched 7 days ago & saved New Yorkers $30k rent?! 🥨 This is the maddest update yet. Fizzing just typing it tbh. So after all the news broke and the incident on TV we were absolutely flooded with 474 freaking job applications to join our founding team 😳. That’s 474 people who wanted to pack up their life and move across the world to join Kiki.nyc. I spent 2.5 years trying to get anyone to join, now this? Insane. But what’s even crazier is that every single application was custom made (since we banned CVs). We had people renting out Times Square billboards, flying for 17 hours, picking us up from the airport, sneaking huge signs in Wimbledon just to get an interview. To every single one of you, thank you. We’re rapidly hiring over the next 12 months so can’t wait for you to join us 😉 But as a result we’ve managed to pull the best uncut 💎 out of Aus & NZ and move them to NYC. You gave up so much to be here and Jack, Alexander & I are honestly over the moon. Jacob is 27, from Auckland and is one of those guys who was born to fit outside the norm. The fact he’s only been a software eng for 2 years is mind boggling as he’s already at the level of engs who’ve been coding for 10+ years. I’m calling it now I reckon we’ve found one of the fastest learners in Australasia and that’s the number 1 thing we look for. You fit into the team like a house on fire and we’re building a cultural like no other because of your infectious energy. So so so so stoked to have you Jacob. 🥨 Mihailo Bozic is 24, from Perth and had his own startup envited that had raised half a million dollars, that he’s now selling off. The launcher role is something I hold very close to me as there’s only a certain kind of person who can do it. It’s absolutely exhausting, incredibly complex and never been done in our way before. But from the first call I knew he was the one. Since joining Mihailo has just blown me out the water. He’s literally as good as two people. All week I’ve sat here thinking how tf did we get this guy? But we’re still searching for our multi 🎩 wearer (hiring again in Nov) So the team rocked up to NYC and we launched 7 days ago. It has blown up. We can’t keep up with messages, people are begging for unlock codes and we’ve already had more traction than 3 months in Sydney… NYC launch traction (in 7 days) - Filled 7 homes - 43 listings - $30k of rent saved - $3k revenue - Earning 3x more per home filled than Sydney We’re on track to fill 1000 freaking homes by Christmas, save New Yorkers $3.7m rent and earn $370k of revenue (all in 3 months from launch).
