The energy in the room was contagious. It was also great to see Lt. Yesterday marked a significant milestone in the journey to the 2024 Democratic National Convention as the podium and staging to be used during the event were publicly revealed at the United Center. This unveiling represents one of the final steps in transforming the United Center into the dynamic convention hall where Democrats from across the nation will gather to rally and celebrate. City of Chicago is ready to welcome the 50,000+ delegates, media, and volunteers who will make this event truly unforgettable. 🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 In just 54 days, all eyes will be on the Windy City as Chicago proudly hosts the much-anticipated 2024 Democratic National Convention. Yesterday, the United Center set the stage for this momentous occasion as it ceremoniously "handed over the building keys" to the Democratic National Committee. This marks the beginning of transforming this iconic sports and entertainment arena into a grand convention hall. At the helm of this effort are some of the most dedicated and visionary leaders: Democratic National Convention Chair, Minyon Moore; Executive Director of the Convention, Alex Hornbrook; and the Executive Director of the Chicago 2024 Host Committee , Christy George, are spearheading the charge to make this convention a benchmark for political events. Big shout out to other key members of the team including Casey Frary, Jim Haluczak, Jared Rush, Keiana Barrett, Shaunna Sims-Davis, Claudia Chavez, Sydney Ellison. Congratulations to the The Prime Group, Inc and Quintin E. Primo III as they kicked off their plan to renovate and modernize the James R. Thompson Center, a critical project to reinvigorate LaSalle Street and the Chicago Loop following the pandemic. Google plans to occupy the entire building as its Chicago office hub. "We look at real estate as not simply office space for our employees, but as an investment we can make in cities and communities that can have real impact. With the Thompson Center, we saw a chance to revitalize the Loop, but also take this iconic building that some thought of tearing down and, instead, make renovations necessary to respectfully steward it into the 21st century." said Google Chicago site lead Karen Sauder. In 2022, Governor Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Central Management Services announced the sale of the building as part of the real estate alignment, which will save taxpayers nearly a billion dollars over the next 30 years. #chicago #Loop #realestate #economicdevelopment

Today, the Chicago 2024 Host Committee and the 2024 Democratic National Convention Committee hosted more than 250 vendors at the United Center for a vendor summit and networking session. The Host Committee continues to aggressively circulate contracting opportunities to vendors across the region. To date, the Host Committee and DNCC have held 5 procurement outreach sessions both virtually and in various neighborhoods across the city.
