About us

At KVC Health Systems, our 2,400 caring team members work every day to strengthen families, prevent child abuse and neglect, and help both children and adults achieve mental wellness. We all need connection! And at KVC, our employees are our greatest asset and strength, helping the people we serve experience the power of connection to themselves, their family and friends, and to professionals who can help them thrive. We're working toward a bold vision: a world in which every person is SAFE and CONNECTED to a strong family and a healthy community. No more child abuse and neglect. No more untreated mental illness or addiction. Parents no longer pass down the cycles of violence, substance use or trauma that they experienced as children. Instead, families have the skills and supportive connections they need to thrive. Every individual has unlimited possibilities and can reach their full potential. This is why the KVC team comes to work every day, providing family strengthening services, mental and behavioral healthcare, foster care, adoption and inpatient children’s mental health treatment. People are facing serious challenges, and community needs are greater than ever. Will you join us? Since 1970, KVC has grown from a single home for at-risk children to a national organization serving over 80,000 children and families each year in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Kentucky and West Virginia. KVC also provides training and consultation around the world. We're a family of private, nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations committed to enriching and enhancing the lives of children and families. Join us in celebrating Tamara M., Director Child Placing at KVC Missouri, whose dedication and outstanding service have earned her well-deserved recognition through our Leading with Empathy initiative! 💚 Tamara's caring and supportive nature make her an invaluable asset to our team. Her dedication to creating a positive environment for both clients and her teammates is truly inspiring! Tamara was recognized by one of her coworkers for her incredible work: "Tamara is the CPA Director for the Eastern half of the state. She was previously a TFC worker and FCCM supervisor. Recently, Eastern FCCM had a worker and youth in the office as the youth was awaiting placement. Tamara took time out of her day to check in with worker and youth and offer her support. She checked in with them regularly while her team was working to find a placement. Tamara took the youth down to the gym and found him a basketball so he could utilize some of his anxious energy. This is kindness and compassion at work!" Ready to join a team that values kindness and makes a real impact? What does a child need to thrive? Most people know that children need shelter, food and love to be happy and healthy, but there’s more to consider. Larger systemic trends in a child’s home state also have a direct impact on their wellbeing. The Annie E. Casey Foundation recently released the 2024 KIDS COUNT® DATA BOOK, their annual study of children across the United States, measuring state-specific factors at play in determining overall wellbeing. This edition features post-pandemic learning loss, and how poverty, physical and mental health, and trauma have resulted in a nationwide failure to prepare children to learn. Learn more about what we as child welfare professionals can take from this report and how KVC is working to give every child the resources they need to learn and grow, https://hubs.ly/Q02GZ9y00.
