The world is here; here is the world. 🌎 We asked diplomats and LA social impact leaders to share concepts from home that they think might translate well into the fabric of LA and international ideas that are already in place here. This week we’re featuring a response from Chef Mohamed Mohamed, who was the Featured Egyptian Chef at Flavors From Afar. His quote is displayed in the graphic above alongside California's state flower, the California Golden Poppy. Tune in next week for another global idea! 💫

About us
LA2050 is a community-guided initiative driving and tracking progress toward a shared vision for the future of Los Angeles. With the LA community, we developed five broad, aspirational goals to make LA the best place to learn, create, play, connect, and live. LA2050 deploys financial, human, and social capital to build a better future--a future for Angelenos, shaped by Angelenos. We accomplish this through research and reporting, tracking progress on the indicators and goals, highlighting civic leaders and organizations around the region, and activating Angelenos to be a part of shaping the future. LA2050 is an initiative of and incubated by the Goldhirsh Foundation.

Happy National Nonprofit Day! 🌟 Today, we salute all nonprofits making a difference across the country, including the 124 we have been fortunate enough to fund through the #LA2050GrantsChallenge. For the third year, we invited Angelenos ages 14 to 24 to participate in our LA2050 Youth Ambassador program. We were delighted to have 187 Angelenos join us to learn about LA’s social impact sector and help spread the word about Grants Challenge voting. As part of this year’s program, we invited Youth Ambassadors to write thank-you letters to organizations of their choice, expressing gratitude for their impactful work. These organizations bring healthcare to unhoused individuals, support Black business owners, build affordable housing for Angelenos, and more! One ambassador wrote, "Your work not only transforms individuals' lives but also strengthens the fabric of our society as a whole." We echo their sentiments and encourage others to join us in celebrating the incredible impact of these organizations! Check out some highlights from their letters: https://lnkd.in/gjvpjwaH

Additionally, I love to attend other nonprofits fundraisers, galas, etc. - one organization we always show up for is CASA LA. LEARN| I graduated from CSUDH majoring in Human Services; additionally I was honored to give a Commencement Speech at my alma mater in 2023. Also every semester, I present at LMU to lower and upper division classes in partnership with their Psychology Dept.
