Are you feeling frustrated? 😤 Or empowered at work?💪 ⏱️Here's a LTL 2 Minute Reframe: If you feel things are being done to you, it takes your thoughts to a place of powerlessness. ✅Try instead to ask yourself: “𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄” and see if what comes back is a clear direction or a completely different priority than what left you frustrated in the first place. You may have to sit with your eyes closed and try asking yourself this several times until you get to clarity. “It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it's the pebble in your shoe.” -𝗠𝘂𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗶 P.S. Have you asked yourself today what you want right now – Yes or No? Comment below and let me know.👇 #ladytechleader #womenleaders #womenintech

This leadership lesson is so good. Leading from the bench is a humbling lesson. What have you done for your team today?

I love the Olympics! The one thing that keeps hitting me as I watch the team sports is how powerfully athletes across sports are leading from the bench. Abby Wambach’s book “Wolfpack” is leadership gold. Her story about finding herself on the bench during an important game and digging deep to reimagine what leading looks like when you’re not on the pitch is one of the all time great leadership lessons. Whether it’s the pool, the pitch, or the mat, leadership is way more about who you are, not the role you’re playing at any given time. You can listen to my conversation with Abby on the “Dare to Lead” podcast: https://lnkd.in/gbZZkX84 Let’s go!

    • A soccer goal and a soccer ball separated by a vast empty field with a quote from Abby Wambach’s book, “Wolfpack”: "If you’re not a leader on the bench, don’t call yourself a leader on the field. You’re either a leader everywhere or nowhere."

"While titles can be impressive, they can also be a prison. Once you acquire a label, certain things are expected of you." - Katherine Applegate, Endling The Only, Book 3 Finding leadership lessons in an unlikely place - Reading to my kids at night! In over a decade in management, one thing I have learned is that leadership is a choice, not necessarily a role --> you can choose how you want to lead. Yes, there are certain expectations, which sometimes can feel like a prison. And when you demonstrate you can move past that and come into your own style: bringing your own values and purpose to your team, you start to develop into a leader. Making the most of your time as a leader is entirely up to each of us in our journey. Image a world of this: “what would it look like if there were more inventions and products made from the feminine point of view?” What do you think you’d like to see invented? What have you invented and not acted on? There’s no time like now! #womenintech #ladytechleader #womeninengineering

Do you know what percentage of inventors are women? 🔎 Only 13%. When I invented Spanx in 2000, it was only 6.8%. The amount of female primary patent holders hasn’t even doubled in 24 years. If you think about it, most of the world around us was created and invented by men. But what would it look like if there were more inventions and products made from the feminine point of view? Like long lasting lipstick… Genius!💄❤️🔎 #FemaleInventors #Inventors #Women

Thank you Marie Curie for all your achievements - you paved a wide path for those who came after you. As a woman in tech, did you know that you can inspire those around you? It’s important to know that you are a leader even when you don’t realize it. #womenintech #ladytechleader

#OnThisDay in 1903, Marie Skłodowska Curie defended her doctoral thesis on radioactive substances at Université de la Sorbonne in Paris – becoming the first woman in France to receive a doctoral degree in physics. The examination committee expressed the opinion that Curie's findings, including determining radium’s atomic weight, represented the greatest scientific contribution ever made in a doctoral thesis. Among the committee’s three members were two future Nobel Prize laureates: Gabriel Lippmann (physics 1908) and Henri Moissan (chemistry 1906). Thesis cover: Recherches sur les substances radioactives (Research on Radioactive Substances), 1903.

Yesterday, at the age of 105, Virginia “Ginger” Hislop graduated from Stanford University Graduate School of Education with her master’s degree. When she started on campus in 1936, her plan was to get her bachelor’s of education, which she did in 1940, and obtain her master’s of education so she could teach, which she started directly after. However, just after completing her coursework and before turning in her final thesis, her then-boyfriend George Hislop, ’41, a GSE student in Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), got called in to serve during World War II, prompting the pair to get married and Virginia Hislop to leave campus before graduating. Now – 83 years after leaving campus and living in service to learning – Virginia Hislop returned to Stanford to finish what she started and receive her graduate degree. When she rose from her seat at the ceremony, donned in cap and gown, to walk across the stage and receive her master’s hood, the applause roared. She was handed her diploma and smiled for the cameras. Her grandkids waved and cheered. “My goodness,” she said. “I’ve waited a long time for this.” 🗞️: https://lnkd.in/g_zMm3kb 📸: Charles Russo

Congratulations Professor Rose-Margaret Ekeng-Itua! Looking forward to many more women doing similar important research! Whether we like it or not, most women end up as role models for others around them. How do you lean into being a role model at work and life?

A major first: Nigerian professor, Rose-Margaret Ekeng-Itua, has become the first Black woman to earn a doctorate degree (Ph. D) in Cybernetics in the world. Ekeng-Itua is a trailblazing educator and engineer championing roles in Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Africa, and paving the way for other young African women. Growing up in a culture that so often discouraged girls from pursuing scientific fields, she found her passion in understanding how things worked. She’s working to change that. “Every challenge became fuel for my determination,” said Ekeng-Itua. “I realized that my success would not only open doors for myself but would serve as an example for other women and girls who might otherwise doubt their capabilities.”

What a great idea for seeking a job opportunity. What do you think? Have you been bold in shaping a job opportunity based on your interests? Jobs are not always just what’s in the job description - you could lead into what you want by being curious of options and confident in what you want.

You probably saw a few months ago that Disney Channel star Bridgit Mendler co-founded a space company, Northwood. But since then, we've heard... nothing. And if you ask me (which you are because you're reading this 😝) this is a huge missed opportunity. So taking inspiration from the one and only Zaria Parvez, here's what I would do if I ran social media at Northwood. #SocialMedia #SocialMediaMarketing #Communications #SpaceIndustry
