Today, we celebrated the groundbreaking of The Arlington, an affordable and mixed-income housing development in Arlington Heights! 🏡🎉 This former oil drilling site will soon be home to 84 families and individuals. This project will also include neighborhood-serving retail along Washington Boulevard, along with large common areas and a variety of amenities: a courtyard in the center of the apartment complex, lounge, fitness center, and laundry facilities.

Last week, the dedicated team at the Los Angeles Housing Department came together for an inspiring All Hands meeting! This was a fantastic opportunity for all of our staff to reconnect through teambuilding exercises, program updates, and education. A tremendous thank you to our keynote speaker Dora Leong Gallo, the President and CEO of our partner A Community of Friends (ACOF), for inspiring, energizing, and empowering our efforts with your words. With collaboration sparked and enthusiasm recharged, the LAHD team is focused on the work of producing, preserving, and protecting safe and affordable housing for all Angelenos - together. 💪🏠✨

Yesterday, we commemorated the 1000th accessible housing unit built in the City! 🎉 We’re immensely grateful for our community partners COMMUNITIES ACTIVELY LIVING INDEPENDENT & FREE (CALIF), Disability Rights California, Independent Living Center of Southern California, and the Fair Housing Council of the San Fernando Valley and their unwavering dedication to empowering Angelenos living with disabilities. Providing affordable, accessible housing creates opportunities far beyond the housing itself, ensuring people can live, work, and build communities together. Thank you for your invaluable commitment to a more accessible Los Angeles! Our celebration of 1000 accessible housing units featured Lucena on Court, a brand new 46-unit affordable and accessible housing community in historic Filipinotown.
