  • Yesterday, our training unit hosted two different trainings for our officers; CSI technician school and tactical bicycle operations. Officers at the CSI tech school got advanced training on how to process and document crime scenes. This is a great resource for our road patrol, allowing specially trained officers to process lower-level crime scenes without having to call in a fully trained crime scene investigator. Officers assigned to tactical bicycle operations received hands-on training from the Michigan State Police on how to handle large, and unruly crowds. This skill set is paramount in having safe and efficient resolutions to unruly crowds and riots. Schools and training like these are regularly offered to our officers, allowing them to build on skills they’re passionate about. If building your unique career is something you’re interested in, remember WE ARE HIRING! Apply at https://lnkd.in/ecQt66We. • Please help us congratulate Lieutenant Mandi Beasinger, who just graduated from the FBI's National Academy Program. FBINAA members make up the highest 1% of all senior law enforcement in the world, so this is a very big accomplishment! Lt. Beasinger is already an amazing asset to our team and we can't wait to see her put her new training to work!

  • 🏅 CIVILIAN OF THE YEAR 🏅 Please help us congratulate Police Social Work Supervisor Jessica Martin for earning the Lansing Police Department's Civilian of the Year Award. Jessica has been with the department for almost 3 years and has made a huge impact in a short time. She was key in helping the department grow the Police Social Work unit from 1 to 4 licensed social workers. With this growth, the Social Work Unit has been able to significantly increase its ability to aid more citizens in need. Under her supervision, her team has responded to over 300 citizen contacts in 2023 alone, which is a 50% increase from 2022. Jessica has been instrumental in helping the Lansing Police Department communicate better and collaborate more with our community partners, all while helping assist the citizens experiencing mental health crises. We’re so glad to have her as part of our team!
