Las Vegas Fire & Rescue invited the community to gather for the 23rd Annual Remembrance of September 11. ♥️ We honored the 343 firefighters and other victims who were killed on September 11 and have with the honored tradition of the Tolling of the Bells. 🔔 The ceremony was held at Fire Station Five, where a piece of steel from the World Trade Center and the descendant of a tree from Ground Zero are displayed. Both were gifted to the City of Las Vegas under the premise that we would #NeverForget. 🇺🇸

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue is proud of our members who uphold excellence in their professional and personal lives alike. Firefighter/Paramedic Lisa Martin competed in what some would call the Tour de France in the mountain biking community, the "Breck Epic." 🚴⛰️ The Breck Epic is a unique six-day stage race in Breckenridge, Colorado, known for its challenging terrain and high altitude. With over 200 miles of racing and 5,000-6,000 feet of elevation gain each day, totaling 30,000 feet throughout the entire race, it's a one-of-a-kind test of skill and endurance. Firefighter/Paramedic Martin, competed in this exceptional event, crossing the continental divide multiple times, including the formidable Wheeler Pass at an astonishing 12,500 feet in elevation. And did we mention she was the valedictorian of her parademic class? 🩺🩻 Kudos Firefighter/Paramedic Martin. 🔥

It's #InternationalOverdoseAwarenessDay, and here in the City of Las Vegas calls for overdoses have increased by 74% over the last fiscal year. However, nationally, overdose deaths are down. ⬇️ Data from the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics indicate there were an estimated 107,543 drug overdose deaths in the United States during 2023 — a decrease of 3% from the 111,029 deaths estimated in 2022. International Overdose Awareness Day is a day to create awareness to help #EndOverdose by remembering those lost to overdose and acknowledging the grief of those left behind. 💜
