Abigail O’Neal, driven by a commitment to social justice and educational equity, leads Why Not You Academy in breaking down barriers for underserved students. As a first-generation college graduate and daughter of Nicaraguan immigrants, O’Neal has faced and overcome significant educational challenges. Women cannot fight this battle alone. On average, women working full-time in the U.S. earn just $0.82 for every dollar paid to men. The disparity is even more significant for women of color, with Black women, Native American women, and Latinas earning $0.63, $0.60, and $0.55, respectively, for each dollar paid to white men. As discussions on closing these gaps continue, many men are stepping up as allies in the fight for equal pay. In sports, for example, NBA player Chris Paul and former NFL player Will Allen are using their platforms to emphasize the importance of gender equality. We need more men as allies in this fight!
