What do ‘Godzilla x Kong,’ ‘Bad Boys 4’ and ‘Inside Out 2’ all have in common? They are seeing success at the Box Office this summer thanks (in large part) to the #Latino demographic. Not to be ignored, Latinos show up to theaters in disproportionate numbers as compared to their non-Latino counterparts, often with a large group of friends or family. NAF has ~4,000 employees, over half of whom are women, and about 40 percent are minorities. In 20 years of operation, NAF says it has become the largest privately-owned, women-owned mortgage company in the country. NAF was also one of the top overall lenders in 2023, according to Scotsman Guide, which has ranked the country's top-producing residential mortgage companies for over a decade. Did you hear about this Netflix show in 2023, called “One Piece”? It’s a Latino-led show that you probably didn’t know about because Netflix barely dedicated any mainstream MKT to it… yet, it became the most-watched show globally during the second half of the year!!! Yes, THE MOST WATCHED SHOW GLOBALLY. This is what we address in our LDC LATINOS IN MEDIA REPORT (2024 edition coming): the success rate of Latino-led shows is outstanding, higher than most any other; yet, those shows are only 3.1% of all shows. Could you imagine if Hollywood represented Latinos proportionately, the success Hollywood would achieve? Latino talent crossesover globally. This actor, Iñaki, with a lovely Mexican accent, was chosen by the Japanese creator of the show as the ‘perfect actor to portray her vision’, and she was right. Hollywood needs to recover its lost revenue. Latinos can be the cavalry coming to its rescue, if they are capable of seeing beyond their current huge blind spot about who latinos are.
