About us

L.A. Works is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, volunteer action center that creates and implements hands-on community service projects throughout the greater Los Angeles area. We strive to empower Angelenos to address pressing social issues through volunteerism and community collaborations. Founded in 1991, our mission consists of three principal pillars: 1. INCREASE volunteer participation in community service projects; 2. PROVIDE our nonprofit partners with access to volunteer labor and other RESOURCES; and 3. EDUCATE and encourage people to engage in the broader social issues affecting the greater Los Angeles Community. Since 1991, L.A. Works has mobilized and led volunteers to contribute over a million hours to Los Angeles through unique volunteer programming. L.A. Works has encouraged corporate citizenship by building a bridge between our corporate partners and the communities of LA. Our corporate partners: • Share our vision to transform communities through service and civic engagement; • Value the power and potential of hands-on, high-impact volunteerism; • Understand how to maximize the impact of their charitable giving; • Recognize that employee service opportunities promote team-building, boost morale, and cultivate leadership; • Understand the value of corporate citizenship as a strategy for recruitment and retention. Join a team of Elevate mentors dedicated to cultivating career potential among the youth! Dedicate two hours of your time to virtually mentor opportunity youth in career pathways and professional development, while connecting with incredible individuals along the way. Over half of the youth we serve come from historically underserved populations and lack guidance on building resumes, understanding employee rights, and other career-related topics. By joining our mentorship program, you provide crucial support and empower our youth to elevate their career potential. The Elevate Mentorship Program, crafted by L.A. Works' dedicated Workforce Development Team, extends essential support to young adults in Los Angeles who have faced challenges such as foster care, homelessness, or involvement with the justice system. This transformative initiative equips them with immediately applicable skills for their next job, fostering both personal and professional development. Every Wednesday from 2:45 PM to 5:00 PM, we offer engaging virtual workshops on diverse topics. Each session features an informative presentation, followed by breakout rooms where you can share your career insights, discuss professional experiences, and answer questions from participants about their own career journeys. We’re looking for dynamic volunteers aged 25 and up who can join us for the full session. If you're excited to make an impact and willing to give just a little bit of your time, sign up for the workshops at https://lnkd.in/d4vpm9R2. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to [email protected]

Our members actively engage in our local community, making a significant impact that reaches far beyond the Club's walls. This past weekend, with the invaluable support of L.A. Works, Jonathans united for another JC Service Day. Together, they assembled 4 sets of cornhole games, crafted 10 blankets, and prepared 100 hygiene kits for the families served by Hope Street Family Services. This endeavor is more than a simple break from our daily routines; it is a heartfelt commitment to contributing to a cause greater than ourselves.
