Empowering Communities Worldwide

About us

Leadership Initiatives is committed to bringing the opportunity of economic prosperity to communities around the world. LI empowers individuals and groups to take control of their circumstances through education, business creation, and the application of practical skills. We help individuals and communities forge the connections necessary to solve local problems using existing community resources. In the process, we train a new generation of innovative, resourceful leaders poised to catapult their neighborhoods, regions, and nations forward. Vital services are made more accessible to the community while individual standards of living improve. And each enterprise serves as a model for similar initiatives in surrounding regions. Our community participants learn, do, and then teach others, creating an ever-expanding cycle of economic and personal growth. The Leadership Initiatives office in Nigeria is located at MAS-HABA Plaza, No. 1 Shira Road, Off Zango - Federal Low-Cost Road Bauchi, Bauchi State, Nigeria. LI currently employees five full-time staff members to train business owners, work with our partnering organizations, and act as translators between our students and our business partners.

We are delighted to share an exciting publication on the significant strides achieved by Leadership Initiatives in empowering youth and fostering entrepreneurship! You can read the latest article from The Guardian Nigeria on our work here: NGO Sets Up Multi-Million Naira Businesses for Over 100 Bauchi Youth (https://lnkd.in/eSNTuxY2) This past summer, 175 high school student interns joined us at Georgetown University for the  International Leadership & Business Internship and worked with 14 amazing entrepreneurs to develop new businesses in Bauchi, Nigeria.  As a part of their business development internship, interns created marketing plans, financial tracking systems, and recommendations for infrastructural materials that would assist their partner in launching their dream business. The interns’ dedication and ingenuity played a pivotal role in empowering their business partners in their entrepreneurial journey. We are thrilled to share the successful outcomes from the dedicated efforts of our student interns. Our newly established business partners have transitioned into their newly renovated shops, equipped with all the essential tools to kickstart their journeys as small business owners. Beyond providing the necessary start-up materials, our team has spent the last three months training these entrepreneurs through workshops covering crucial topics, including financial literacy, budgeting, marketing, and other essentials. This comprehensive approach ensures a strong start and fosters the long-term growth and sustainability of these businesses. The workshops and business implementations stand as a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team, underscored by the resilience and potential of the young minds we strive to uplift. At Leadership Initiatives, our commitment lies in creating sustainable opportunities that empower individuals to transform their lives and communities. Reflecting on the achievements of this year, it is an honor to witness the positive impact we've had on the lives of these business owners, as well as all of the student interns who made this possible. From fostering entrepreneurship to promoting self-reliance, we are steadfast in creating a ripple effect that extends beyond immediate beneficiaries to the community at large. This journey would not be possible without the unwavering support of our student interns, partners, donors, and the tireless efforts of our dedicated team on the ground. We extend heartfelt gratitude to all those who make our work possible. Together, we are effecting change and shaping a brighter future for communities in need. Let's continue to champion change, empower dreams, and build a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Thank you for being part of our journey, and here's to even more impactful initiatives in the coming year!

Exciting Field Update: Empowering Voices for Change! We are thrilled to share an update from our dedicated team on the ground in Nigeria! In recent weeks, we've been making significant strides in the Kandahar, Miri, and Lushi communities, where our mission revolves around collecting vital baseline data for our forthcoming advocacy and public health surveys. Our exceptional International Advocacy Interns and International Public Health Interns from all over the world have diligently crafted comprehensive surveys designed to delve deep into the essence of these communities. The response from the locals has been truly inspiring, with an overwhelming enthusiasm to share their perspectives and contribute to our shared goals of improving healthcare awareness and advocacy education! At the heart of our endeavor is the belief that everyone deserves a voice in their healthcare journey. The communities we've engaged with are poised to be active participants in the ongoing conversation, reflecting a collective commitment to the expansion of healthcare and human rights. Moreover, these surveys will provide our interns with invaluable baseline data, enabling them to tailor community workshops that address the specific needs and aspirations of each community. This grassroots approach ensures that our advocacy and public health initiatives are not only impactful but also deeply rooted in the unique context of each community's specific needs. As we eagerly anticipate the unveiling of results in January, we look forward to sharing the compelling stories that form the vibrant tapestry of these communities. Let's continue fostering a dialogue that empowers and uplifts because together, we can truly make a meaningful difference! Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for being a part of this journey towards positive change!
