At LEEAF, we believe that real impact comes from strong partnerships. We have discovered that 63% of employers say recent college graduates frequently can’t handle their workload (Intelligent 2023) and over 50% of first-gen students lack access to high-level workforce experiences during college (Cruz Paul 2023). That’s why we’ve been leading campus-wide initiatives at Cal State LA, transforming workforce development to better connect first-gen students with local economies. Our Fellowship program provides on-the-job training, making our students career-ready upon graduation and strengthens their passion for economic justice making them ready to shake-up traditional work norms 🌟 Bring career readiness to your campus by heading over to our link ( https://lnkd.in/g7ecyf_K ) and partnering with us!

    • Did you know? LEEAF (Los Angeles Economic Equity Accelerator and Fellow) has partner networks across 23 cal state la universities statewide and 6 local community colleges.

⏪☀️ Summer Soiree Recap!! We had a blast celebrating our three incredible cohorts of PledgeLA Founders Fund program alumni and bringing them together with LA-based entrepreneur-focused organizations for a night of learning and connection.✨ Co-Founder of Soul Food Candle Co. and 2023 Founders Fund alum Ko Trinidad Williams moderated a special “founder allies” panel spotlighting trailblazing leaders Elianne Rodriguez of LEEAF.LA, Jennifer Okorn of Gunderson Dettmer, and Marsha Olsen of Wurwand Foundation and FOUND/LA, who each shared how their work and organizations support entrepreneurs, valuable resources to plug-in to, and advice for remaining resilient! 👏🎤 Shout out to Las Fotos Project for hosting us and to our featured vendors for making the night a success: Swrlies, Cena Vegan, Alchemy Craft, Saucy Chick Rotisserie, SELF-HELP GRAPHICS AND ART, INC., and Magic Dream!🤝

One of my highlights this Spring was designing and leading the PledgeLA Access to Capital Catalyst!✨ Working with these 10 incredible women of color entrepreneurs alongside our program partner LEEAF.LA was truly a joy. Shout out to the amazing Elianne Rodriguez (she/her) and Sebastian De Vivo, PhD for collaborating on this work, and to my colleague Calvin S. for your mentorship!

📣 Program Recap! ⏪ Led in partnership with LEEAF.LA, our PledgeLA Access to Capital Catalyst founders gathered throughout the Spring for tailored workshops focused on demystifying sources of capital and the key financial metrics needed to access them.💡 Following these hybrid sessions, the cohort participated in 1:1 tailored advising and received a $5K stipend to execute a specific project designed to increase the company’s readiness to take on additional capital. These projects supported companies with addressing business pain-points and enhancing their financials, all while expanding their entrepreneurship networks. We are so grateful to welcome this brilliant cohort of entrepreneurs into our community with the support of our program sponsor PNC Bank.💛  ⬇️ Keep up with our highlighted founders and support their businesses! 🌟 Equal Pay Day sheds light on the ongoing gender pay gap, especially affecting women, particularly women of color. Did you know? The U.S. Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that women are paid 82 cents for every dollar paid to men! One way to start bridging the pay gap is by encouraging women to step into new sectors and roles where they're underrepresented. 💪🏾 LEEAF is doing our part to narrow the gap by reshaping the next generation of workforce with our fellowship program. It's not just about advocating for more money; it's about giving students an opportunity to learn entrepreneurial skills & gain hands-on experience by applying those skills while working with businesses in underrepresented sectors. 🚪 We know talent is equally distributed, but opportunity is not. Our fellowship opens doors for the next generation of workforce & builds equity, one student at a time. Are you following us on Instagram? Check us out because we're always sharing something new! #EqualPay #GenderPayGap #WorkforceEquity #EmpoweringWomen #InclusiveWorkforce #DiversityInBusiness #CareerEquality #WomenInLeadership #FairPayMovement #EmpowermentThroughWork
