Our team is proud of this amazing project -- "located in the northeast quadrant of the USD campus, the state-of-the-art facility was designed by San Diego native and golfing icon Phil Mickelson. On a one-acre natural turf short-game area, complete with an 8,000-square-foot putting green, three practice sand bunkers, and a 40,000-square-foot fairway and rough area, this facility is designed to perfect every possible golf shot." “This world-class facility was designed to build teamwork and encourage a healthy sense of competitive spirit,” said USD President James T. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is an essential milestone in American history that deserves our utmost recognition and celebration. It commemorates the day when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, on June 19th, 1865, and announced the end of slavery, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. This momentous occasion holds a significant place not just for African Americans but for all Americans. #FreedomDay

Our progressive Design-Build partnership with MiraCosta College, Architects Mosher Drew, and our engineering design team began with a comprehensive discovery exercise with the Construction Manager, Department Directors, and Facility Personnel. The building’s current function was identified, to be carried forward, and the teams vision and goals for the future use of the building were established. As the design progressed, design charrettes were held on a regular basis with all team members to ensure that the design continued to meet their vision and goals. As the basic design took shape, the team continued to have additional detailed info gathering sessions with the end users regarding how to tailor the building to the most efficient and economical use. The end result was a major success. The renovation and expansion of the library now includes a welcoming lobby with plenty of daylighting, new faculty office spaces, extensive MEP upgrades, acoustic upgrades to promote focused work, new flexible learning centers, open spaces that promote team collaboration, an advanced computer lab, and new workshop spaces/classrooms. #HigherEducation #CommunityLearning #FlexibleLearningSpaces #InnovativeSpaces #InnovativeLibrarySpaces #BuildingAtTheHighestLevel
