  • We're thrilled to have partnered yet again with Primally Pure on their special rebrand event✨🍃 We curated an antioxidant focused grazing table, filled with end of summer produce and nutrient dense dishes. We focused on blueberries and tomatoes because they are packed with them and help your body rid of free radicals. We kept the summer vibes going with a smoothie stand — all organic, raw milk, raw honey and summer fruit inspired smoothies to nourish you in the sun. Our favorite thing was the custom butter bar…because who doesn’t love fresh whipped organic butter. Even better, you got to add your own herbs and spices, and take home some Rye Goods sourdough to go with it! We couldn’t be happier to partner with a brand that focuses on wellness, sustainability and all things seasonal🍽🫶🏻 #lightheartedkitchen #farmtotable #diningexperience #brandevent #primallypure #organic #sustainable #grazingtable #summerinspo

  • Summer is fleeting but we're not done cooking with its bounty! We love creating seasonal recipes for our community and this week we made something light and refreshing -- the perfect summer salad for the coming holiday weekend... A jalapeño and corn salad! Grill 4 ears of corn in olive oil, cut off the cob and add to a bowl. Chop up a red onion, 2 jalapeños, a cup or 2 of cherry tomatoes, a handful of cilantro and add to the bowl. Mix together the juice of 2 limes, 2 tbsp of EVOO and salt and pepper. Add all together, stir and enjoy! We make recipes like this each month and add them to our seasonal guides. You'll find 90+ recipes with all seasonal produce! https://lnkd.in/g9UVQTss

  • Nourishing our Bodies and Minds with Seasonal and Local Food We're focused on the fascinating connection between food and mood. At Lighthearted Kitchen, we believe that what we eat not only nourishes our bodies but also profoundly impacts our mental well-being. Let's explore how our commitment to seasonal, local, and organic foods can brighten both your plate and your mood! The Mood-Food Connection Did you know that the foods we choose can significantly influence our emotional state? Research shows that a diet rich in fresh, whole foods – especially those grown locally and organically – can boost serotonin levels, our body's natural mood stabilizer. By choosing seasonal produce, we're not just supporting local farmers; we're also giving our brains the best fuel possible! Seasonal Mood Boosters Mood-enhancing seasonal superstars: • Berries: Packed with antioxidants, they help reduce inflammation linked to depression. • Leafy Greens: Rich in folate, they support the production of feel-good neurotransmitters. • Pumpkin Seeds: High in zinc and magnesium, they're natural stress-busters. Try our "Berry Blissful Salad" recipe below to incorporate these mood-boosters into your diet! Community Dining for Mental Health Eating isn't just about nutrition – it's a social experience! Sharing meals with loved ones increases feelings of connection and belonging. Why not host a seasonal, organic potluck with friends this weekend? It's a great way to explore new recipes and boost everyone's spirits! Enhance your mood further by practicing mindful eating. Before eating, take three deep breaths. Observe the colors, textures, and aromas of your food. Take small bites, chewing slowly and savoring each flavor. Pause between bites to check in with your body and emotions. This practice can help you fully appreciate the nourishing qualities of your seasonal, organic meal while promoting a positive relationship with food. The Gut-Brain Axis Our gut and brain are in constant communication, and a healthy gut microbiome is crucial for mental well-being. Organic, probiotic-rich foods like yogurt, kefir, and fermented vegetables support this delicate ecosystem. By choosing organic, we avoid pesticides that can disrupt our gut flora, ensuring a happier gut and a happier mind! Local Food, Local Mood Supporting local farmers isn't just good for the economy – it's good for our souls! Knowing where our food comes from and the faces behind it creates a sense of connection to our community. This weekend, why not visit your local farmers' market? Strike up a conversation with a farmer, and feel the mood-boosting effects of community connection! At Lighthearted Kitchen, we're passionate about the power of food to nourish both body and mind. By choosing seasonal, local, and organic foods, we're not just taking care of ourselves – we're taking care of our community and our planet. Eat well, feel well, and stay lighthearted! With gratitude, The Lighthearted Kitchen Team

  • Can you believe we’re already nearing the middle of August? Summer seems to be flying by, but there's still plenty of sunshine and fresh flavors to savor. As we continue to embrace the season, we’re excited to share what we’re buying from the farmers markets right now and why these ingredients are at the top of our list. Market Highlights: What’s in Our Basket This month, we’re focusing on produce that’s bursting with flavor and nutritional benefits. Here’s a peek at what we’re picking up: Heirloom Tomatoes: These vibrant beauties are in full swing. Rich in antioxidants like lycopene, heirloom tomatoes are not only delicious but also heart healthy. We love using them in everything from fresh salads to slow-roasted dishes. Sweet Corn: August is prime time for sweet corn. High in fiber and packed with essential vitamins, it’s a versatile staple that adds a touch of summer to any meal. Peppers: From bell peppers to spicy jalapeños, peppers are peaking right now. They’re loaded with vitamins A and C, and their crisp, refreshing bite makes them perfect for everything from salsas to stir-fries. Stone Fruits: Peaches, plums, and nectarines are still going strong, offering a juicy, sweet treat. Rich in vitamins and minerals, stone fruits are not only great for snacking but also ideal for grilling or baking into a galette. Melons: Cantaloupe, honeydew, and watermelon are at their most flavorful. Hydrating and refreshing, melons are perfect for hot August days. We’re using them in everything from sorbets to fruit salads with mint. Why We Choose Seasonal: Eating seasonally isn’t just about flavor—it’s about nourishment. Seasonal produce is picked at the peak of ripeness, ensuring you get the best taste and the highest nutritional value. Plus, buying in-season helps support local farmers and reduce the carbon footprint associated with transporting out-of-season goods. We hope you’re as excited as we are to dive into these August market treasures. If you’re looking for more inspiration, be sure to check out our seasonal produce guide. It’s full of ideas to help you make the most of this abundant summer produce. Stay Lighthearted, and happy cooking, The Lighthearted Kitchen Team

As a consumer, reading packaged food labels can be very confusing- and all too often disappointing. For decades, the industry has been covering packaged goods with greenwashed terms in order to increase profits. Eco-words such as “natural”, “sustainable”, “pure”, have all been run through the industry's marketing washing machine, leaving these terms depleted of any value behind their true definition. ‘Regenerative’ faces this same threat-  As many product and label claims on the current market are being made with no real connection in planetary health. The most crucial component missing from many of these regenerative product claims is organic certification status; a baseline that regenerative simply can not go without. The Regenerative Organic Certified® label is the only regenerative seal on the market that takes organic into consideration for its framework, that then builds on soil health, animal welfare, and farmworker fairness standards. Organic certification, the highest legal status for ecological farming that was set by the government in 1972, has set standards that eliminate all chemical killers and synthetic inputs, both of which preserve the soil microbiome. Regenerative can not go without organic. By first glance, a consumer should have the right to know the impact of that product, from farm to fork, without fear of falling into a marketing scheme. The Regenerative Organic Certified® seal is here to pave the path of integrity in labeling, for the soil, the animals, the people, and the planet.

We spent the evening on Primally Pure's farm, serving freshly sourced and organic dishes straight from their garden, with a table adorned by Burn + Bloom while sipping crafted cocktails from Sip Sip Mobile bar. We served: Endives with fresh citrus, pickled onions and pistachios Crudité plate with eggplant dip, lemon salt and olive oil Snap pea salad with homemade pesto, hazelnuts and burrata Braised barbacoa lamb tacos with red onion, cilantro, charred green onions and tomatillo salsa on blue corn tortillas Carrot olive oil cake Our passion at Lighthearted is to educate and nourish the local community the best way we know how — through nutrient density and organic foods. However - our health starts with our soil. From farming methods to soil regeneration to harvesting to bringing it to your plate — it all matters and Primally Pure does just that. Thank you for having us on your land, teaching us all about your regenerative practices and sharing your freshly grown produce with us!✨ #lightheartedkitchen #farmtotable #farmtotabledining #diningexperience
