About us
This year in the United States, more than 15,000 families will hear the unbelievable news that their child has been diagnosed with cancer. As they make their way through treatment, they will face a thousand battles aside from the one happening with their kid’s cellular biology. Parents might seldom see one another. Mounting medical costs can be overwhelming. Siblings might feel a loneliness from an understandable lack of attention. Friends and neighbors will want to help, but they won’t really know how. Because of these realities and so many more, the family unit bears unimaginable weight and is exposed to profound risk. And that’s just not going to work for us. Lighthouse Family Retreat is a faith-based nonprofit that exists to strengthen every family living through childhood cancer. We host restorative retreats and develop helpful resources so that families and their support systems can find hope in God and help in their fight. During one of our latest meetings, our leadership team had the privilege of hosting Lighthouse Family Retreat at our Morris Road office. This incredible organization provides families living through childhood cancer with restorative retreats and invaluable resources. Their mission is to offer a respite filled with deep rest, relational connection, great laughter, and kindness. Our team enjoyed creating colorful cards for their retreats, turning it into a friendly, creative competition. Inspired by their impactful stories, we're grateful for the chance to contribute. We hope our colorful cards bring smiles to the families they serve. 🌈💌 And as we approach Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, we encourage everyone to support Lighthouse Family Retreat during their 2024 Gold Party. “There’s no pain like kid pain.” - Joby Martin Last week my family and I spent 6 days working with Lighthouse Family Retreat for the third year in a row. If you know someone who has a child that’s been battling cancer, Lighthouse hosts retreats for their families. If you’re looking for a place to donate your time and/or money they are a great organization. Each retreat includes: - Pool and beach time for families - Date night out for the parents - A giant “unbirthday” party for the kids - Group coaching for parents - more It was a joy to be the “host” of the week helping keep logistics going, DJ the dance party, and lead intentional moments for the families. Thank you to the Lighthouse staff and volunteers we worked with!
