Today was filled with HOPE!🌟💙 We had so much fun at our summer outreach event, Day of Hope! Attendees enjoyed a community picnic and learned more about the services available in our community by engaging with local service providers. Our Donation Center distributed care packages, local worship bands provided entertainment, and the kids had a blast with all the different activities. Our free store is officially open for referrals!🎉 Now, our guests and clients, as well as those referred by our partners, can "shop" for items that they wouldn't otherwise be able to afford.🛍️ A huge shoutout to our amazing free store associate, Leanne, who has worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. "Our Free Store will provide the most vulnerable in our community with not only clothing, hygiene, household goods and other necessities, but will also bless them with dignity, confidence, and most important - love," Leanne said. Small acts of kindness, like blessing someone with a nice shirt or new pair of shoes, will bring hope to those who need it the most. 🚴♂️ Jim, a dedicated volunteer, organized a bike ride from Pittsburgh to Washington DC to fundraise for our Mission! Around 30 other bikers joined Jim for parts of the 700 mile ride to show their support. It was emotional watching the group depart from our Mission, knowing the how dedicated they were to our cause. As temperatures rise again in Pittsburgh, it's crucial to stay cool and hydrated. Our dedicated Street Outreach Team is on the move, providing essential supplies and support to those in need. In April and May, we distributed 1,145 hygiene kits! Here's ways for you and others to stay safe: 🔹 Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water 🔹 Seek Shade: Stay in cool, shaded areas as much as possible 🔹 Dress Smart: Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and a hat 🔹 Check on Others: Ensure vulnerable neighbors and friends are safe 🔹 Know the Signs: Be aware of heat exhaustion and heatstroke symptoms We are committed to keeping our community safe during this heat.
