We’ve committed to being #NetZero by 2030, which is why it was incredibly important for us to join the 135 other members of the Belgian sustainability network, The Shift vzw/asbl, in signing an open letter to future heads of Belgian and European governments, urging them to commit to building a path towards sustainable economies. We’re confident that when both businesses and civil organizations commit to a net zero, nature-positive and equitable economy, a greener future is possible for all. 💚🌍 #GreenTransportation #Micromobility #Sustainability #Belgium

📢 No time to speak up like the present!  And we made the headlines doing so 🙌 In a remarkable show of unity, 135 members of The Shift vzw/asbl signed an open letter urging future government leaders in Belgium and Europe to continue on the path towards a #netzero, #naturepositive and #equitable economy. They expect - and count on ☝ policies that make ecological choices and investments the most obvious and cheapest, ☝ a government that removes barriers, provides legal certainty and supports sustainability, ☝ a transition that is fair and does not overlook anyone.  👀 View the full open letter and all 135 signatories HERE 👉 https://lnkd.in/etCGxv6u 👀 Don't forget to check the press release in Le Soir attached to this post 👀 And keep an eye out for more news in both written and spoken press! #WeMakeTheShift #OpenLetter #AmbitiousPolicies

We’re proud to have Lime as a sponsor of the 2024 Braille Challenge. We applaud the company’s partnerships with Pacific Assistance Dogs (PADS) and the proactive moves it has taken to remind riders of the importance of sidewalk accessibility and the impact of blocked pathways on individuals with disabilities. 🏳️🌈 You can’t spell PRIDE without RIDE! 🏳️🌈 Lime has partnered with Pride in London for a second year running for in the UK capital, the majority volunteer-led organisation responsible for London's flagship LGBTQ+ Pride parade since 2013. Lime has donated to support the organisation's Unity Fund that strengthens LGBTQ+ communities by providing support to grassroots organisations. We'll also be donating free rides to all Pride in London employees and volunteers throughout the months for June and July to help everyone get to where they need to be, right on time ahead of parade day… Not only that, but we are building on last year's partnership even further with the launch of our Pride At Home delivery service in partnership with Pride in London. London Lime volunteers will be hopping on two wheels to hand deliver goody bags to those unable to attend the parade in person due to access needs, social anxiety, or other circumstances. Launched with the help of UK Drag Race icon Victoria Scone, and paired with a livestream of the parade, the service aims to help create an at-home celebration as close to the real deal as possible for those that can't join the experience in person. If you have a loved one, or know someone who can’t make it to parade day, you can nominate them to receive a Pride goody bag by following this link: https://bit.ly/4euy69U

We teamed up with the Transportation Research and Education Center (TREC) at Portland State University to explore the taxes and fee structures paid by shared micromobility riders and companies across 120 cities in 16 different countries. ⬇️ Here what they found out: 📊 Fees vary dramatically between cities: Some cities charge no fees, while others impose high per-vehicle or per-trip fees. 💰 Shared micromobility is taxed twice, via sales tax/VAT and program fees: Globally, fees and taxes average 16.4% of fare revenues and make up $0.70 per mile traveled. 🚗 Shared micromobility taxes and fees are higher than most other modes of transportation, especially driving and ride hail: Shared micromobility trips pay fees and taxes that are 23 times higher than what drivers pay in the gas tax and 5 times higher than ride hail trips. 🏢 When deciding on fees, cities are especially concerned with covering administrative costs, as well as influencing operator behaviors: Less consideration was given to ensuring financial feasibility for scooter companies or lower costs for riders, despite the fact that both of these outcomes would positively contribute to the overall success of the shared micromobility system.   When cities align micromobility fee structures with their own goals, better programs can be built to ensure a greener future for all. 💚🌎 ➡ Check out the full research here: https://lnkd.in/g3B2Qvth

Shared micromobility (including shared electric scooters and bikes provided by private companies) is one of the newest transportation options that has come to cities in the last several decades. A new report explores the different ways cities charge shared micromobility companies to operate, and how these funds are used. Researchers John MacArthur of Portland State University, Kevin Fang of Sonoma State University and Calvin Thigpen of Lime examine data from 120 cities in 16 countries around the world. They also conducted a survey of cities’ shared micromobility program managers, with responses representing 33 jurisdictions in North America. Digging into how each city made the decision of what to charge, the researchers find that taxes and fees vary dramatically from city to city and may not always reflect the city's stated policy goals. https://lnkd.in/g3B2Qvth

Safe 👏 sidewalks 👏 should 👏 be 👏 standard 👏 We’re proud to announce our latest partnership with Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS) during AccessAbility Week! This partnership will support the launch of an initiative aimed at keeping sidewalks clear for all pedestrians, particularly those with physical mobility challenges or those who are blind or have low vision. Here’s what we’re doing to ensure we keep sidewalks safe for everyone: ☝️Adding stickers to all our 🛴🚲 vehicles, reminding riders of the importance of sidewalk accessibility and the impact of blocked pathways on individuals with disabilities. ✌️Communicating additional 📢📝📱 education to our riders on responsible riding behavior. Over the next week, look out for creative ways that companies and organisations are encouraging everyone to vote in the European elections on 6-9 June. From offering free rides to the polling station, sending notifications with election reminders, or adapting logos to represent a ballot - there are many ways to get involved. Join us in these efforts! Some examples of actions taken by companies include: •  Spotify is sending notifications to all users who are eligible voters and have launched a playlist featuring tracks from local artists in each Member State. • In the campaign #AllHandsForDemocracy, Universal Music Group proposes to put a stamp on people’s hands when attending concerts so they do not forget to go vote. •  Under the theme “Options Exist. The Choice is Yours” The Coca-Cola Company is encouraging its networks across Europe to not miss the opportunity to have a say in Europe’s future. •  With the message “VOAT! for the planet”, Oatly is encouraging customers to vote in the upcoming EU election. • Apple is helping raise awareness by featuring a story about elections in the App Store in the EU. •  Lime and TIER Mobility-Dott will be offering free rides on election day because they believe transportation should not be a barrier to people casting their vote. •  Flix are raising awareness in their social media with an adaptation of their logo and providing free rides to polling stations in some countries. •  4 Lufthansa Group aircrafts are flying across the European continent with a clear statement: "Yes to Europe" to encourage citizens to vote in June. Is your company or organisation interested in collaborating and encouraging as many people as possible to vote? Contact [email protected] for more information.
