“The brain is never the same from one moment to the next throughout life. Never ever,” -Linus Health Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer Alvaro Pascual-Leone MD. In a conversation with Massachusetts Institute of Technology Press Reader’s Adolfo Plasencia Diago, Dr. Pascual-Leone explores topics such as the brain's capacity for change, how time perception is influenced by brain plasticity, and the potential risks of technologies that can read and manipulate brain activity. https://lnkd.in/g6aBXyRZ I #BrainHealth #Dementia #AlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersResearch https://lnkd.in/g6aBXyRZ I #BrainHealth #Dementia #AlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersResearch

It’s been a productive few days at Alzheimer's Association® International Conference (AAIC)! We’ve enjoyed meeting with colleagues, customers, and members of the media, sharing firsthand how the Linus Health platform is helping organizations support cognitive health research. If you haven’t already, swing by Booth #830 to see our platform in action. Some highlights include: ▶ Presentation by Stina Saunders, PhD, Personalized Medicine Lead, Linus Health, on “The electronic Person-Specific Outcome Measure (ePSOM) in the US population: What matters to individuals the most about their brain health.” Dr. Saunders also spoke with NeurologyLive’s Marco Meglio about how treatments in Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) should be developed with a person-centered approach and explored the differences in treatment priorities across the UK and US populations and across sociodemographic groups within these populations. ▶ Presentation by Ali Jannati, MD, PhD, Director of Cognitive Science, Linus Health, on “Validation of Clinical Decision Support Recommendations of a Digital Cognitive Assessment by Expert Cognitive Neurologists.” ▶ Showcasing how our digital cognitive assessment platform empowers researchers and clinicians by streamlining workflows and care pathways through combined objective analysis of cognitive performance and qualitative metrics, all augmented with clinical expertise and AI. ▶ Sharing our more than a dozen AAIC sessions and posters, covering research topics ranging from using artificial intelligence (AI) in digital cognitive assessment tools to the integration of a digital cognitive assessment tool in a primary care setting. The University of Queensland, Australia, shared results from a study, showing that exercise consisting of short bursts of intense work followed by quick recovery periods—also called high-intensity interval training (HIIT)—was most beneficial for boosting brain health among people aged 65 to 85 years. After six months, only the HIIT group showed notable improvements in memory and learning abilities. Brain scans revealed that HIIT prevented the typical age-related shrinkage of the hippocampus, an important area of the brain for memory, and improved the connections between different brain regions. Newsweek recently discussed the findings with Linus Health Chief Strategy Officer John Showalter, who emphasized that all exercise is beneficial for cognitive health, not just HIIT. Low-intensity exercises like walking and tai chi have also been shown to delay and lessen mild cognitive impairment. Administering next-generation digital cognitive assessments in the primary care setting enables earlier detection of cognitive issues, provides actionable clinical insights, and supports patients with personalized plans. This approach ensures timely and appropriate care, improving the efficiency of Alzheimer’s and other dementia testing while alleviating neurology referral bottlenecks. Despite the time required for neuropsychological testing, successful reimbursement is a priority at Linus Health, and understanding the three common CPT codes for billing is crucial. There are several different ways a provider can assess a patient’s cognition. Historically, paper and pencil assessment tools, such as the Mini Mental Status Exam (MMSE) and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), have been most common for providers to assess a patient’s cognition. However, recent digital innovation has ushered in significant advancements in cognitive testing. In an interview with PBS, Emory University’s Jennifer L. Zreloff, MD, and Linus Health CEO and Co-Founder David Bates share how digital cognitive assessments like Linus Health’s Digital Clock and Recall (DCR), leverage familiar digital devices to streamline test administration and offer robust clinical insights to providers. https://lnkd.in/e9bjcbyr I #AlzheimersAwareness #CognitiveDecline #BrainHealth #DigitalHealth #AlzheimersDisease
