Professional development. Professional learning. At LCSD, we don't stop learning because we have the job. Our staff is committed to growth! More than 50 teachers spent the first two days of summer in the classroom getting ready for September. Our district's instructional coaches provided staff trainings on Benchmark Advance (our new K-6 reading program) to support our teachers and ultimately, our students! #professionaldevelopment #growth #lifelonglearners

In celebration of Women's History Month, the Lockport City School District (LCSD) honored outstanding women by hosting the inaugural "Women Who ROAR" awards. Standing for "Recognizing outstanding achievements and resilience," the ceremony highlighted remarkable women from the Lockport community as well as young ladies from Lockport schools.  The district was proud to recognize women from the WNY community who represent expertise in STEM, healthcare, community engagement, the arts, and social-emotional wellbeing. Congrats to: -Keah Brown, American disability rights activist, author, journalist, and writer -Kathleen Granchelli, Retired Ywca Of Niagara CEO -Marion Hannigan, Host at LCTV -Erika Kastel, Director of Community Impact, Literacy Buffalo Niagara and Lockport City School District Strategic Planning Committee Member -Martha Kershaw, EdD, RN, CNE, Associate Professor and Chair of Nursing at the Scott Bieler College of Health Professions, Daemen University -Kathleen Lewis, Civil Engineer, US Army Corps of Engineers Additionally, the district was proud to recognize outstanding students who exhibit leadership, care, and concern for their classmates. They demonstrate the district's core beliefs of high expectations, fostering a sense of belonging, connection, safety, and equality.
