Giving translators the context they need to translate product text was a game-changer for one localization manager and his team. This is what Julio Leal's team (Spendesk) used to do before, depending on how much time he had: 1. Ask product teams for additional reference material and send it to translators 2. Leave it up to translators to do the guesswork If it were left to translators to second guess, there would often be more fixes during the testing and QA phase, adding even more steps to the localization process. Now, providing context is a easy as popping a ready meal into a microwave. Watch below to find out what made this part of the localization process a lot easier. 🇹🇭 Did you know that “Bangkok” originally comes from “Bang Makok,” meaning “place of olive plums”? But that’s not the only fun fact — the city’s full ceremonial name is the longest place name in the world and translates to “City of Angels.” Here it is: 🤓 Krung Thep Maha Nakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit. Quite a mouthful, right? Now that you know a bit about Bangkok, let’s see what you can do in the city that truly never sleeps, courtesy of our Biz Ops expert Michelle Sheila F.. 📱 Don’t miss the Mahanakhon Tower. Its pixelated design is a symbol of the digital age and, at 314 meters, it was once the tallest building in Thailand. 🏛️ To learn about Thailand’s history and culture, head to Bangkok National Museum to explore the wonderful collection of art and historical pieces. 🦀 🍜 Street food is a big deal in Bangkok. For a Michelin-star street food experience, check out Jay Fai, where the legendary crab omelet and drunken noodles are worth the wait. Other street food hot spots include: - Yaowarat Road (Chinatown): A bustling area full of food stalls. - Ratchada Rot Fai Train Night Market: A lively market with street food, vintage items, and live music. - Or Tor Kor Market: A clean market with high-quality fresh produce and ready-to-eat meals. 🛍 A must-visit in Bangkok is Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of the largest markets in the world. It has over 15,000 stalls selling everything from clothes and accessories to plants, antiques, and unique souvenirs. 🏞 To escape the hustle and bustle, head to Lumphini Park, known as the “green lung” of Bangkok, it’s a great place for a morning jog, paddle boating, or simply relaxing by the lake. 🐉 Keep an eye out for the Komodo dragons strolling around — yes, you read that right! These impressive reptiles have become a notable feature of the park. 🏖I f you venture outside of Bangkok, head to Phuket, The Phi Phi Islands, or James Bond Island in Ao Phang Nga National Park – yes, the one from The Man with the Golden Gun. 🦕 Pssst: The locals mentioned they’re filming the next Jurassic Park movie around these islands too!
