We are thrilled to have been shortlisted as a finalist for the 2024 Communiqué Awards in the Excellence in Communicating and Using Data category for our submission, First Consensus Recommendations for Holistic Care in Hereditary ATTR Amyloidosis. Through this project with Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, we developed the first published recommendations to recognize the value of the patient community in advocating for the needs of patients with ATTRv amyloidosis, and to call for a major shift in the current approach to its management. These recommendations were published in BMJ Open, a peer-reviewed, open access journal with wide dissemination to a global audience. The Communique Awards “recognize, reward and commend excellence and best practices in medical affairs and healthcare communications.” For more information about the awards, visit https://buff.ly/4eEprBO #CommuniqueAwards2024 #healthcarecomms #amyloidosis #medicalaffairs #patientadvocacy #ATTRv #patientcommunity

Our CEO, Jon Williams, has been named in Endpoints News’ third annual feature on LGBTQ+ leaders in biopharma. The article honors individuals shaping the future of not only their community, but also the biotechs, pharmaceutical companies and other organizations involved in making and bringing new medicines to patients. In the interview, Jon highlights the importance of advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion in the biopharma industry, highlighting that though we’ve come a long way, there is always more work to do. He also discusses creating workplace environments where everyone feels accepted, and insists on upholding these values to ensure the next generation of LGBTQ+ people working in biopharma have role models. “Every young person needs to be able to look at somebody else and say, ‘I see myself in that person, and that person is successful, and I want to be like that person.” Read the full article, including the experiences and stories from 13 other individuals named in the feature at https://buff.ly/4cDao9w. We are pleased to say we have committed to setting, within 24 months, near- and long-term company-wide emission reductions in line with science-based net-zero with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This is part of our ongoing dedication to sustainable and responsible business practices. By aligning with the SBTi, we acknowledge the pressing need for climate action. The SBTi aims to limit global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, with efforts to limit the increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius. June 19, 2024 commemorates the 159th anniversary of Juneteenth in the U.S. and Lumanity’s U.S. offices are closed today. Juneteenth, a combination of "June" and "19th" is also known as “Freedom Day” or “Emancipation Day.” Juneteenth commemorates the day when the last enslaved African Americans were freed from slavery in 1865. Though President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 granting freedom to enslaved people, enslavers were responsible for telling them and many ignored the order until it was enforced by Union troops. Although it only became a national holiday in 2021, the first Juneteenth celebrations were recorded in 1866, making it one of the oldest continually celebrated holidays in the U.S. Learn more about the historical legacy of Juneteenth at https://buff.ly/4bWPWAv #Juneteenth #Juneteenth2024 #Freedomday #Emancipationday
