Every day, thousands of newcomers arrive at airports across Canada, each bringing their unique hopes and dreams. Some come as permanent residents, others on a pathway to permanent residency, and many seek refuge from the hardships back home. Maclean's magazine had a brilliant idea to document these incredible stories. Photojournalist Ian Brown collaborated with Carly Pews, connecting with settlement agencies, refugee centers, and community groups to meet people from diverse backgrounds. I am humbled to share my story in this feature, detailing my journey of moving to Canada, settling in within a year, and living among an amazing community of people who are also thriving here. While the start of this journey was a rocky ride, it has become incredibly rewarding. This article offers a glimpse into the lives of your neighbors, the person sitting beside you on the transit, and colleagues who have yet to share their own rollercoaster experiences of settling in. https://lnkd.in/g6NS3-6r ACCES Employment #NewcomerStories #Canada #Toronto YMCA of Greater Toronto
