  • Our heartfelt thanks to the many friends who came together for Signs of Hope to show their support of mental health services close to $180,000, and still counting! We were awed by our speaker, Liv, who courageously shared her amazing story of hope and healing — the evening progressed with an emotional tribute to members of the MaineHealth Center for Trauma, Resilience, and Innovation for their unwavering support following the Lewiston shooting last fall. We are incredibly grateful to our Host Committee members, donors, and Guardian sponsors for their contributions. This event would not be possible without the amazing Sheri Boulos who has been the heart and muscle behind this event for 17 years! She and the Development Committee with support from the Development Department went above and beyond this year. Thank you all! Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, University of New England,

  • We are thrilled to have two third-year residents join our Rockland office and Pen Bay Medical Center as part of our rural residency program. Kristen Clark, MD is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and Carlos Rodas, D.O. from the University of New England. Here they are with supervising physician Dr. Harold Van Lonkhuyzen (center) for a chat to get familiar with their new cases and procedures. They spent the past two years at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center-Portland and Spring Harbor Hospital. Welcome, Kristen and Carlos!

  • When Chef Manager Mike Newell organized a recent department appreciation event (which he attended during vacation) he never expected to be the object of appreciation by his Dietary Services staff. But he was. Following the event and considering Mike's many talents, his co-workers conspired to collect examples of admiration from his team and fans throughout Spring Harbor. The words flowed across many pages! Mike was commended for demonstrating amazing qualities, from selflessness to dedication to honor and integrity. He was praised for his customer service skills, involving staff in decision-making, and fostering a trusting team dynamic where all ideas are welcome. Thank you, Mike! #leadingbyexample

  • Thank you to State Representative Jack Ducharme and Heather Priest, Chief of Staff with the Senate Republican Office, for visiting Spring Harbor and the Glickman Lauder Center of Excellence in Autism and Developmental Disorders. Both were extremely engaged throughout their visit and asked many questions about how they could help fill gaps in the system. We are fortunate to have public servants like Jack and Heather express such interest in our work. Educating them will help further awareness in the Legislature of the importance of investing and building a strong continuum of care.

  • Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates Federal troops arriving in Galveston, TX on June 19, 1865 to announce the end of the Civil War and to enforce the freedom of enslaved African-Americans. This occurred a full two and a half years AFTER the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Lincoln. Today, Juneteenth is often celebrated with loved ones or community members gathering at cookouts to emphasize togetherness, shared history and culture, rest, and the right to freely assemble. Essentially, today is a celebration of life, love, and liberty!

  • It’s Pride month and this year’s theme, “For Your Health, Be Yourself ”, highlights MaineHealth’s commitment to understanding and addressing health disparities in the LGBTQ+ community and encourages LGBTQ+ care team members and the community to bring their authentic selves to every interaction! Pride Month is celebrated annually in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots, an uprising that occurred in response to a police raid on a gay club in New York City. Today, the month is a time to celebrate the diverse array of sexual and gender identities that make up the LGBTQ+ community, and also to celebrate the joy that can be found in living authentically.
